This is the third pair of "burn prevention" bbq gloves I have owned, we both use them, myself in the kitchen, him around the smoker/grill. We are both very avid cooks in the home and backyard, and love to try new things.I recommend these because they are THICKER than the ones I had before, which clearly were not effective when removing a cast iron pan of bubbly Mac and cheese from the smoker— we began to feel the discomfort immediately with the other pair we have. That's just no good—These bbq gloves are not "fire proof" but they ARE heat resistant, and they are much thicker than others I have seen advertised. When shopping for something so important, I find it essential to get "the best" (which doesn't necessarily translate to the "most expensive" in this case, because the price is very affordable!I like the non slip features on these gloves, as we all know accident happen, and these really help the grip on your pans, racks when removing from the smoker.Sizing: My husband is a big man, with big hands. These are a little snug but I think this is a good thing, on myself, they are a little loose. These would be perfect for use by any adult family member. They allow for individual movement of the fingers to grab the hot pan in just the right way that's comfortable for you. They are longer than many bbq gloves, and protect your lower arm when reaching into the smoker or from grease splatter. They arrive in a nice box, which makes it easy to wrap for gift giving, and ANYONE who barbecues or bakes would appreciate. These are not limited to outdoor use!Easy to wipe off. If I throw in the washer I will leave them to dry on their own, I don't like putting things of this nature in a clothes dryer. If you or someone you love cooks, bakes, is the grill master, or the smoker in the neighborhood, I highly recommend.

These heat resistant glove fit a bit small for my hands, but I do have large hands. Would have been nice to have an XL size option. As for the quality, there are several thick layers of unidentified material with silicone dots for slip resistance. The outer layer is said to be neoprene, which would ignite at 500 degrees, but it seems to either be a different material or somehow treated. I tested the outer layer with a 3 second burn with a torch and it didn't ignite, but some of the strand ends were glowing red. Seems it wouldn't ignite at the rated temps of 1400 degrees unless they had prolonged exposure. The inner layer seems like a woven glass fiber material. The hot spots from the outer layer do seem to spread out the heat through the thick inner layer, keeping the temps down, but I don't think.these would handle prolonged exposure to larger heat sources, like repositioning ignited wood in an oven or fire. I actually just wanted these for welding, so they will work well for slag spatter. These have sleeves about the length of standard cow hide work gloves. On my larger arms, I get about 40% forearm coverage with these, though I imagine most would get 50% or more. They are a bit stiff, probably not as good a choice off the shelf for welding as standard cowhide gloves. Considering the quantity of high density fiber in these, it seems very likely they is a lot of opportunity to break them in. I will continue to use them for welding in hopes that they do, but if they don't I'll have other uses around the house for these thicker heat resistant gloves.

I got these mostly as a replacement for my oven mitts.Having fingers really provides more mobility and control in what you are doing. For more complex cooking, this really helps. That being said, mitts are much easier to slip on, so it takes some time to put these on and get used to them.

I’ve had a pair of oven gloves with silicone ends which I’ve loved and so I was keen to try out these gloves as there is a lot more manoeuvrability in gloves, so from a functionality point of view gloves are better. We’ve also just got a new BBQ, so my husband was happy to road test them for me. They fit him well and the design is good, good thickness of the silicone and great heat resistance, I can’t say we’ve tested it up to the stated 800º but it handles the heat of metal trays on the BBQ and in the oven really well. He was able to use tongs while wearing them, which makes them a big improvement on the usual style of oven gloves with the two joined pieces. You can of course just wipe the silicone parts to clean them or you can put them in the washing machine and hang them out to dry, I turn them inside out after drying the outside as they do take a while to dry out. At the current price of under £15 they are good value for money.

I've been wanting a pair of these gloves for a really long time. I have a condition called erythromelalgia, so exposing my hands to any level of heat can be excruciating. So this makes being in the kitchen very difficult for me. I did not get these gloves for barbecuing, but for everyday use in the kitchen. My review should work for both uses however. My first test on these gloves was in handling items in the oven. I was able to reach in, grab hot pans, and even touch the sides of the oven without feeling any heat on my hands. I was so impressed by this that I kept the gloves on while I cooked over the stove. I could not at all feel the heat emanating from the various pots and pans and heating elements as I stirred and cooked. The gloves are very large on me, so that makes them a little difficult to use. But that's only a problem because I wasn't able to choose the size I wanted for this review. However, I liked these so much that I think I will be buying another pair in a smaller size. One of the nice features of the gloves is how long they are. They come up the forearm about 5", which makes it nice for reaching into hot spaces like the oven or into the heat of a barbecue. They have silicone dots on both sides of the gloves which provide a good non-slip grip on anything you want to hold. They seem to be very well made. I have not tried to wash them yet, but they do claim to be washable. They are very thick, so one should not be expected to feel things through them. But this does not affect their functionality. It's still easy to grab and hold things with confidence. If you don't like your hands feeling hot or want to protect yourself when you're doing something with heat, then I highly suggest getting a pair of these gloves.
