If I had seen this item I would not have purchased. It has a nice handle, however the metal ripper part is very small. More like inexpensive rippers or ones you receive free.

I don’t sew anymore, but I still have a seam or two I repair. This gadget is handy for that process. I also have a couple of OTC meds I always have in stock in my medicine cabinet. This gadget is totally capable of ripping off those sealed plastic covers they have wrapped around the bottles and bottle tops. I also use it to open taped packages and to easily slit open that little plastic seal on every box containing some product I need and buy. I have created or discovered so many uses for this item that now I keep one each in my bathroom , kitchen, office, and living room. They are just that handy to me. These come with a plastic lid to cover and protect the pointy, sharp end. That too is a nice feature.
