The original was brass, which I liked more than steel, but that's more of a personal preference. But it was an exact fit, and hasn't leaked or given me any issues, and it was just soooo inexpensive. Unless you have a show car, or a severe case of OCD, this will more than do what you need it to.PS KNOW YOUR METALS! If you have an aluminum block, I'd recommend this over brass, since electrolysis will cause the aluminum to corrode faster when in contact with brass. Way better to replace a cheap valve than an expensive block!

This fit and worked perfectly. It also solved the problem with the old valve allowing oil to escape into the intake and cause oil consumption. This stopped the moment I installed this valve. No more oil loss.
