I bought this for my 5-year-old grandson because I didn’t want to spend a lot on a loom if he didn’t like it. It’s a bit awkward to use compared to my Schacht looms because the warp wraps around a board and the woven fabric is pressed between two pieces of wood. There are also no heddle blocks. Having said that, he loved it. I think that it gave him some freedom that the more polished looms wouldn’t have. It is interesting to warp, watch the video on YouTube! He hasn’t used anything but the 4-inch heddle yet, but that way the fabric develops quick enough for him to see progress. While I won’t be trading my Cricket for this anytime soon, it was a great, affordable option for a child or someone else who wants to learn without forking out a fortune to start.

I am a weaver, and bought this for my daughter to learn on. There is no place to “rest” the rigid heddle. I sent it back, and bought a cricket, more money, but infinitely better.

Don't be fooled. This is NOT a serious loom. It does weave pretty well, but only very small stuff, such as straps. I wanted to weave a scarf, but I was sorely disappointed. My biggest disappointment was the 10-inch heddle, which should have been the main value of the whole loom. It has eyes that are tiny, just big enough for a fingering yarn (50g) at best, in spite of the fact they are spaced at 5 dents. In fact that's the size of yarn that is included. Because of that, your 10-inch heddle will only weave pieces that are less than half that wide. The shorter 4 dent heddle has nice big eyes that will fit regular yarn (100g). But it's only 4 inches wide, for about 30 lines of warp.I really like the wingnut clamp for holding the near end of the warp, but there is nothing like that at the other end. You are expected to wrap the other end of the warp around a board and tie the ends together around some slots on the outer edges of the board. I thought it was quite wasteful and doesn't do much for keeping the warp aligned vertically – just spreads it out.The shuttle is just a cutout. It is blunt and has not been tapered at any of the edges, and it seems as if the ends will get easily caught in the work, if your shed is not high enough. There was a piece of weaving already started, as mentioned by other reviewers. It uses the smaller heddle with the larger eyes, but with the tiny yarn, and it is only started about an inch up the warp.I confess, I stopped short of even using this loom. It did not at all meet my expectations (which were admittedly high), and I am sending it back. I wish someone could have told me all this stuff before I spent the money. But now I am a little wiser.

Purchased this product for my grandaughter. Very difficult to use and the instructions are horrible. This is not a child's loom!!
