Plugged right in to existing wiring harness but key mount doesn’t snap in hole and moves around a bit

Bought for an old 4wheeler we'd lost the keys to... it worked for a week or so then started shorting out and eventually stopped working all together. of course, by the time it stopped working the return window had closed.
