Who knew lighting a candle could be such an adventure? This bad boy has a child-resistant mechanism that even adults struggle to operate (kudos to BIC for keeping us on our toes). The giraffe-like neck is great for lighting tall candles in large vases/jars, and I use it to light my propane burners too (in a much safer way compared to holding my hand 2 inches from an open and forceful flame). My favorite feature? The retractable hook for convenient storage - because you never know when you'll need to hang your lighter up for the night. Forget candles, I now use this to spark joy in my life every day.

We keep these on hand for emergencies. They last a long time and are easy for adults and older teens to use.

I love this brand of lighter. I love having the scent of nice candles in my home and this brand of lighter is easy to use! I am 84 and the other lighters are for young people with a lot of grip which I do not have! These work for weaklings like me! They are great... you will love them. They light right up with no problem!

For the price it doesn't get any better. These are honestly HUGE compared to other models (so im assuming more fluid) and i have no trouble using the safety buttons. I admit i have been using this grill style lighter for everything my whole life. My mom and myself hate the nuisance of fire that kindles near your fingers or matches that burn down or blow out. I use these for candles mostly. Works great to get down into a tall candle jar that's been burned close to the bottom. Other kinds have an easier top button though. For anyone who is confused by these 2 button designs...put your thumb on the top button ridges and press it down hard and hold it there then use your index finger on the bottom trigger. You may need to click the bottom trigger a few times. You will near a snap sound and it will light.

This is a basic lighter combination that comes at a good price. The flame is reliable and will spark easily every time. Depending on your usage it will last for several months. They can't be refilled, but at this low cost they're clearly intended to be disposable. The special wrinkle of this set is the "flex wand" neck of one of the lighters. I have to say that in almost every case, the straight neck has suited me fine, but I could think of maybe a few instances where a candle is hard to reach inside a holder or something like that. Otherwise it seems rather gimmicky.

The Bic designers are geniuses because all of their lighters, including these, are classics. These multi-purpose lighters make all the other multipurpose lighters I've tried look absolutely primitive. These are the only lighters with a gentle trigger pull that almost always light the first time with a nice healthy flame.I'm approaching age 70 and have rheumatoid arthritis and so I appreciate being able to use these lighters without being forced to use both hands to squeeze the trigger, but the BEST part is the ease with which the child proofing can be removed. It is quite literally impossible for me to operate ANY of these type of lighters while simultaneously pressing or squeezing a second "child-proof" lever of some sort, and so it is essential that I be able to defeat the child proofing on these things. In fact I've become an expert on removing the child proofing on most things -- especially prescription bottles..., but I digress. Some of the other lighters I've tried have child proofing that is essentially impossible to remove without destroying the entire unit, but the child proofing on these wonderful BIC lighters is simply a matter of prying the "child-proof" lever off the top and discarding it. It takes a little practice, but a nice sharp whack in the right place with a 1/4" wood chisel snaps the child proof lever right off so I can use this device. With the severity of my arthritis, it is quite impossible for me to simultaneously depress the child-proof lever and simultaneously pull the trigger. I'm on chemotherapy in addition to my arthritis, and the swivel neck-type lighter makes it much easier to light my Bong which I use to help fight off the severe nausea and vomiting the chemotherapy causes. My only wish would be to be able to purchase the swivel neck lighters by themselves without the straight necked lighters. Even the feel of these lighters in the hand is much more natural and easy to grip than all the other lighters I've tried. These BIC multipurpose lighters are head and shoulders above all others.
