I received the Big Dipper 54X4W DJ Light and, right out of the box, I could tell it was built to handle more than just the occasional birthday bash. The light output is impressive-at 4200 lumens, it easily covers my small event space with vibrant color washes, and the RGBW LEDs allow for a nice range of hues without the colors looking washed out. The DMX 512 compatibility made it straightforward to integrate into my existing setup, and the sound-activated mode is a fun touch for spontaneous parties.One specific way I used this was for a recent community trivia night. I set the light to wash the stage in alternating colors between rounds, and the effect really energized the crowd. The wide coverage meant I didn’t need multiple fixtures to get the look I wanted, and adjusting the settings was simple enough that I didn’t have to fiddle with controls all evening.Compared to some competitor lights, this unit is a bit heavier at around 2.6 kg, which could be a downside if you’re constantly hauling gear to different venues. For me, though, the solid build and stability are a plus-I’d rather have a fixture that feels sturdy than one that shaves off a pound or two. Reliable and bright, this light has become a staple in my setup.

VERY GOOD PRODUCT

A very powerful, commercial quality Flat PAR style LED light. Manual control that includes standard functions such as flash, jump, fade, and pulse color changes. Additional manual control includes unusual dimming curves (that I do not know what they are for or can do), and fan control that does nothing. Even DMX control does not cause the fan to change speed.DMX control is provided for standard functions as master dimmer, R/G/B/W control, & strobe. Channel 7 includes the standard jump, fade, pulse and sound control, plus High CRI colors. At channel 8 things get very weird. Check out the pix I have included for the User Manual. In the same channel you control fan speed (which does not work), dimming curves and speed control for channel 7 color changes. By definition, if you wish to control the speed of the color fade, you cannot control the fan?High output surface mount LEDs are utilized, along with implementation of NTC temperature sensing of the LED aluminum carrier plate to protect against over-heating. KUDOS. This technique is rarely implemented on a majority of similar light fixtures.If you only need a good, powerful RGBW flat PAR with a commercial quality cast aluminum body and ability to daisy chain the AC power this is great. If you have a need for unusual dimming curves, and/or high CRI colors, maybe this is OK. I am not enamored by User Manuals that do not specify WHICH color is output for EACH specific channel value such as listed for channel 8. Simply poor documentation. If you can find an appropriate pre-populated fixture file that matches this light for your software - GREAT. If you have to "roll your own" and create an ssl2 file, etc., you will have a lot of work to do! IMHO. It depends upon your intended use/application.This fixture comes with brackets for either hanging or floor uplighting. However, the brackets are quite flimsy and bend very easily. In addition, only 2 rubber washers were included along with the hand knobs. In my experience, 2 washers will not work. One washer is needed between the two brackets (one on each side), and another one between the inner bracket and the fixture body (on both sides). None should be used between the hand knob and the outer bracket. The the total is 4 rubber washers.Definitely cost effective for this amount of light output.

This is a fun stage light that really sets the mood for fun!! We set this up for karaoke night and it created a great ambiance. I like that you can easily change the colours; there are 8 in total. It is compact, small, and lightweight, so it easy to transport. I think it elevated our party and we got a few people who asked us where we got it from and we told them on Amazon. It is a great product. Definitely recommend!
