I wish it was new. The motor worked but two flaws. Handle gets stuck when pressing release. I managed to fight it open but it hurt my arthritic hand. Exactly the reason I needed the product. Because I can’t fight opening things. Wish I had one that wasn’t defected. I’m sending it back. Disappointed because I needed it to work. I believe it could have w/o defects. Also the lid surface appeared used as it had some sticky stuff that showed previous use. $200 a lot for a product not New and was defected.

Leaving this plugged in on the corner of the kitchen counter makes for simple jar opening.Simply insert bottle/jar.... then press down to fit and turn on in one motion. Seems to work great. If they sold this for cheaper, they probably wouldn't have been discontinued.

Bought a used one through Amazon for a great price and got super fast shipping. I have not gotten used to remembering that I have it, so I have only tried it 3 times. Only problem so far is that 2 of the 3 times I tried to use it, the jar was either too tall to fit in the chamber and/or the lid width was too narrow. For example: it will not open 2 liter soda bottles because the lid is too narrow in width. I have not tried a 2 liter for height though, but I doubt that it is short enough. The jar needs to be not more than 8 1/4 inches [21 cm] tall, and the cap (aspirin bottle) or lid of the jar not LESS than 2" wide and not MORE than 3 3/4 wide -- approximately. I have not found the manufacture's dimensions concerning acceptable jar height and lid width, but I could have missed it, so I measured the best I could.I think that it would be great for opening those sticky pickle jars and anything (within dimensions) that hurts or cracks your wrists to open. I am in the market for something that will open beyond these approximate dimensions, but I am keeping this one because of the special price deal.

You go to the fridge and get out your 1 week old half full jar of spaghetti sauce. You go to open it and find that some sort of super glue is holding the jar lid so tight you can't twist the cap off. You can whack the lid with the side of a knife, try to use on of those jar openers that look like pliers yet they won't open wide enough. Everything you try fails. Sure, if you are a weightlifter in your twenties you don't have this problem. But if you're an eighty year old grandmother it's impossible.Solution? This device works! It has never failed me. Easy to use and fast!

At this point in my life there is no point proving my manhood every time I have to open a jar in the kitchen! Looking for the purpose of saving my strength for more important things I found this. Excellent, easy to use and so far opens the most challenging jars I have encountered. Excellent buy!My order of this product had some travail, however I have to say the seller, The Medical Supplies Store, gets a 10 from me for their outstanding customer service! They responded immediately to my concerns personally and addressed my issue completely to my satisfaction, and quite frankly went further than I ever expected. They are old school, and I appreciate it! If I have the opportunity to buy from The Medical Supplies Store again I will without question. I only wish every business followed their model.

At first I was a little confused at the lack of an on-off switch, but after reading the manual, I saw that it works automatically by pushing down on the top section. I guess that when the bottom platform (a rubberized mat) feels enough pressure being exerted, it starts itself. It was easy to use, & the directions were clear & direct (with labeled illustrations). The top & bottom clamps also work automatically, in adjusting their grips on the jar.I tried it with three of the jars I have the toughest time with: 1) a 24 oz. Gulden's mustard jar (the wide bottom of this jar just barely fit into the bottom clamps of the unit, but it did), 2) a 24 oz. spaghetti sauce jar, & 3) a 32 oz. sauerkraut jar.The jar opener easily opened all three without a problem. This unit is expensive, but when compared with not being able to open jars & having to give up foods I like, it's well worth the money.

Ordered the Black/Decker 275 Lids-off Jar opener for my mom and my mother-in-law both over 80, both have arthritus. I inadvertently thought I ordered 2, but when I pressed the button, noticed I had ordered 3 (MY Fault for not paying attention) As my husband travels, and as I have small hands, i.e. can't get jars opened either! I decided to wait/see if the product was as "wonderful" as others have been saying. This was my first experience with OrangeOnion...all 3 products arrived within 4 days of ordering and the East Coast was having terrible snow storms so I honestly was not anticipating them arriving in time, in Seattle, for Christmas--so what a very pleasant surprise! Everything arrived in one box, nothing damaged...all is GREAT!Now, I admit that the product does have some MINOR limitations...such as Mom buys these JUMBO size jars of artichokes from Costco and the jar will not even begin to fit into the opening system. I tried, yesterday to put in a Williams/Sonoma margarita drink mix bottle in it but it too tall to fit. BUT, that being said, for most of the small/med/large size "standard" (everyday type jars/bottles) it works like a charm!Another minor thing that I noticed that one other person mentioned is that we will probably be hot gluing on some tiny rubber grippers on the lower portion of the opener, just to add more strength/stability to the product...surprised that Black/Decker didn't think of this already. So far, after a few weeks usage, we are very pleased! I would definitely recommend this product and this Vendor, OrangeOnion!
