Purpose use case:I have an HDMI output plug on my DSLR camera, I want to stream the footage from a hundred feet or more outside to my house. Hdmi is not good for this, it's really bad at this actually, so I got an SDI cable (normal high quality coax cable like in your cable box) which has a BNC plug end on it instead of normal screw on coax end (you can buy these ends at the hardware store) and plugged the HDMI into this device and the SDI into the other end and ran it as far as I need to. There's another device that looks like this to go SDI back to HDMI if you need that.I have two of these and even they have been beaten up pretty good they have never even glitched once. Would like it if it had a little mounting tab of some kind just to help keep it secure but I've used zip ties and it's good enough.
