I haven't had many hours on the pump yet but so far it's working great and is super-reliable. I'm using the pump for breaking up the thermal barrier in a DIY cold plunge build, where I also have a Danner 1800 gph mag-drive pump for circulation through the filters and chiller. A nice feature was that the back panel was detachable (like most pool pumps I would assume), allowing me to wire up a remote single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch to activate the pool pump from within the cold plunge. ** a word of caution for anybody attempting to activate a pump while immersed in the water: keep in mind that you're on the other side of electrocution-level current and immersed in water... consult with a pro/ keep in mind the following precautious. 1) make sure the pump is properly grounded and attached to a GFCI socket. 2) considerations for the switch. An appropriately rated / waterproof SPDT switch will work if done properly. Other safer, a more foolproof options would physically separate the end-user (immersed in water) from the 120 power source. (a low-voltage switch wired to an appropriately rated solid-state relay, is wired to the pump would accomplish that)

Works great. The low could be a little bit stronger, but fine to keep the water moving and the electric bill down. The high is perfect.

Works very well that you may have to be careful and leave the hose down a little bit if your hose fittings don’t fit the pump itself it does come with something you can slide your hose onto but the higher pressure setting can blow the hose right off the side if you don’t glue it on which means you will need to buy a new fitting with the new hose or strip the old hose off the fitting carefully because of this, I only tacked down one little spot on the fitting to hold my hose on, and that did work

Got this to replace an aging (15-20 year old?) Hayward 1 hp pump with a broken rocker switch that became very noisy, and touchy in it's older years. For a 24 foot round 52" high pool. Wanted something I could run around the clock without a timer. Easy with this, run high speed during the day when swimming / vacuuming (works fine) and low speed at night. Low speed is not going to make waves, but it keeps water circulating. Was almost the same footprint, just a little lower in height. Had to remove 2 pavers out from under my salt water system so this would fit in the same spot and hoses would all line up. Even though hose fittings were included, I used the fittings right out of my Hayward with some fresh teflon tape (included) - no leaks.Running this from a twist lock plug outlet and this has a standard 3 prong plug. So I had to get a 3 prong plug to twist lock plug adapter on here for just under 7 bucks. "Southwire 90218802 12/3 STW, 9-inches Twist To Lock Generator Power Cord Adaptor (L5-20P To 5-15R) 15-20 Amps, 2500/1875 Watts, 125 Volts". Works like a charm. So much quieter and efficient than my old pump, I am a happy camper.

Decided to use a more energy efficient pump to reduce my electricity consumption without compromising my pool water. After much research on the energy star expensive VS or variable speed pump and the two or dual speed less expensive pumps, I purchased a Hayward two speed one HP pump. It looked great and probably would have been a good choice but the poor design basket lid allowed the lid to be over tighten with no built in stops causing the housing to crack! That unit was return and this one bought as its replacement. I am very pleased with the quality of material, design, function, operation and what I got for my money. It is an import but so was the more expensive Hayward no longer made in the USA. What Blue Wave did was to borrow the best design features of the older Hayward pumps and the newer models into this pump. The results are outstanding. It has the same footprint as the Hayward SP1510 units so hooking it up to a EC40 DE filter on the plastic platform requires no modifications. it has two permanent outlets with 1 1/2" internal threads so you can use all of your coupling, inserts and hook up to a sand filter or across to a DE filter. Once it is hooked up and running, you cannot hear the pump at low speed which has about one half of the flow of the high setting but now you are using 3 amps of electricity and instead of 12 amps. Can't wait to see my next utility bill.
