I had the older model of this and loved it but unfortunately it stopped working. I ordered this one expecting all the pieces are in the box but since I didn't buy it with a pool it doesn't come with everything. So make sure you buy the extra pieces ( the o rings and the on/off plunger valve.

We have the Intex 15 ft. metal frame pool. It was purchased in June 2010. For a month our pool has been green. Not murky, just green. We have cleaned it, kept the levels exactly where they should be, and we even purchased the Intex Deluxe Saltwater System (w/ copper ionization). Nothing worked!! We were getting very frustrated. So, we decided to upgrade the pump that our pool came with (1000 gallon filter pump) with a stronger pump to see if that would turn our pool clean and clear...and BLUE. We installed the 2,500 gallon filter pump on July 20 and let the pump run that night. Our pool was NOT green the very next morning! We finally have a blue pool again. This item was shipped from Windy City SuperStore. It was purchased on July 13, and was delivered on July 17. VERY fast delivery. Everything was in the package. Unlike other reviews on this page, the box included the plunger valves. The only things I needed to purchase separately were the hose conversion adapters. This unit also included a timer.Pros:More powerful than the pump our pool came with.Has a timer.Came with all the correct parts (the plungers). The unit is quiet. Most important, it has turned our pool blue, clean, and clear!!Cons: (My cons ONLY apply to those who have to use the conversion adapters to make this pump work on their pool. It does not apply to bigger pools where the holes are already 1 1/2 in size)Cannot use the adjustable inlet nozzle or the strainer grid once the hose conversion adapters (purchased separately) are in place. Which is a shame for two reasons: they are really nice, and they are appropriate for maintaining the maximum flow of water in/out of the pool. Once the adapters are in place (to convert 1 1/4 inch hoses to 1 1/2) the original inlet nozzle and strainer grid from the 1,000 gallon filter pump had to be put back on. The only way around this is to cut the holes in the pool itself bigger to fit the new inlet nozzle and strainer grid. A few reviewers have done this, and my husband wants to do it as well, but I have not allowed him to do this. As long as our pool is clean and the pump is working I think this is not such a bad sacrifice (not being able to use the new parts). As other reviewers have mentioned, with the use of the hose conversion adapters it does make the plungers and hoses hang heavily off of the liner of the pool. However, this was an easy fix. My husband simply cut two 2x4's so that each one would fit under the plunger connection and hold it up. This has worked great so far!Neither one of these cons is related to the actual functionality of the 2,500 filter pump, so my review will be 5 stars. I just wanted a blue pool, and that is what I now have because of this filter pump!

The other reviews suggested that this pump would handle my 18' x 52" above ground pool. When the package arrived I was dismayed at the tiny size. I had been using a more traditional setup with a Hayward style pump motor, so I thought this would never work. I hooked it up and was shocked at how strong it is!! It was about 80% the strength of the large pump I had been using, which is plenty of flow. (I used to have to split the input of the previous pump between the skimmer basket and a bottom cleaner to prevent hose collapse)Since my pool was already plumbed before, I didn't use the provided inlet and outlet attachments, but I did use the valve assemblies they came with. Using their connectors made grafting the fittings onto my existing 1 1/2" pipe as easy as getting two 2" threaded reducing couplings at Lowes. ($3) Piece of cake! (It is a little tough getting the standard PVC fittings to thread fully onto the Intex pieces. The different types of plastic seem to produce alot of drag, and I had to use a strap wrench and pliers to get it tight enough to seal.) Still, it all went together and sealed up with no leaks on the 1st try. 15 minutes - done. Nice! The complaints about the pump "air seizing" easily are probably valid. It seems like it will. I've had it running on a timer for a few days though, and haven't had to bleed off any trapped air. Maybe those that were having trouble had a leak in the line that was only bad enough to occur under the negative pressure of the intake side? I have a feeling that when I try to hook up the bottom cleaner, the little bit of air that is always in that line may cause problems. We'll see. Anyway... No problems yet. This thing is quiet. Really quiet! The reason I had to replace my old pump was that is sat for a few months and when I fired it back up it was as loud as a jet at takeoff. My neighbors were NOT happy. I hoped this pump would be as quiet as my old one was when it was new, but turns out the Intex is WAY WAY better than that! I couldn't believe it. Compared to a big old school style water pump, this thing sounds like a fish tank pump. WOW!All it has to do is last and I'll be completely loyal to this company!
