Compared to other big box ratchets, this one is very nice! You gotta try it.

This is a solid ratchet for its size. The mechanism on it is pretty good and doesn't require too much rotation to engage. It's definitely better quality than an entry-level hardware store ratchet of similar price, and is a good tool if you need a small ratchet for small jobs.

I have other 90t ratchets that for the same price or lower does a better job than this ratchet. Yes the design and length of this ¼" ratchet is great but my dislike with it is that when I loosen a bolt, I can hear and feel the teeth grinding in the mechanism feeling that it might also slip. It also has more backlash than other 90t ratchets I've used as well. Overall it's an alright ratchet not the best.

I ordered this 90-tooth, 1/4-inch drive ratchet wrench for my "Go Box," containing essential automotive and home repair tools. My experience with other BOEN products gave me confidence that this product would perform well.Several features led me to choose this product:First, the ratchet wrench is compatible with my existing sockets and adapters.Second, the 90-tooth gear design provides the smallest swing arc (4°) of any ratchet I have owned, allowing easy access and maneuverability in tight spaces.Third, the quick-release button functions effectively, making it simple to remove sockets and adapters.Fourth, the reversing switch enables almost effortless changes in ratcheting direction. Finally, the shape and texture of the handle feel very ergonomic to me.My experience with this ratchet wrench has been excellent, and I have encountered no negatives while using it. Ideally, the manufacturer would provide a maximum torque specification to set proper use expectations. Since that information is not provided, I suggest potential buyers assume this ratchet will perform well within the 20-200 inch-pound torque range, making it best suited for low-torque applications, such as small fasteners or delicate work.

I really like this ratchet. It appears to be very well-made with perfectly applied chrome plating. It is great size for working in tight spaces. It has a solid, hefty feel to it and is quite a bit beefier and heavier than a similarly sized Snap-On unit that I own (which only has 80 teeth and cost many times more money). I was skeptical, at first, that this one really has 90 teeth, so I counted the number of clicks for a full rotation of a socket and it is as advertised. Another thing I like is that the quick release button is flush when a socket is installed, making it less likely to be pressed accidentally when in use. I will proudly display it in a toolbox full of expensive name brands such as Snap-On, Matco, Mac, Facom, GearWrench and vintage USA-made Craftsman. This is one of the few items I've reviewed that I would give even more stars to if I could. You won't be disappointed!

I can't yet offer long term opinions, but out of the box, this seems an acceptable example of a modern, middling quality imported ratchet. The ratchet came in bulk packaging, without any branding or COO information. Nor is there any COO stamped on the tool. I have to assume it's from mainland China. That's fine, but a Taiwan COO would have inspired more confidence.Out of the box there were no immediate manufacturing flaws. All the gear teeth were present and worked, the chroming was fine, etc.I did notice it seemed to have a bit of backdrag. After disassembling, I found the internals were unlubricated. I added some Superlube, which smoothed things out a bit. In my experience this is very typical for low end imported ratchets. I'm not sure why they don't lubricate them at the factory, but it's easy to do yourself with a T8 torx screwdriver and some quality grease. The directional selector is "backwards" from most US ratchets. (The selector goes right for tight, left for loose.) To my mind, the "standard" US convention is backwards and this doesn't bother me. But if you're accustomed to it this might be annoying. The head size is a little bit big compared to equivalent ratchets. See a comparison with my Craftsman 44807. The head is slightly thicker and noticeably wider. Same for a more modern Craftsman CMT86301V. If you're specifically looking for a small head size this might not be the choice for you.All that said, once lubed up, this ratchet operates smoothly and pleasantly. The selector switch, handle, and quick release are all exactly what you'd expect from the pictures. It feels tight and well built, without any looseness or jankyness. In brief use, I've found it pleasant and a nice step up from older low tooth count ratchets. It's a much nicer ratchet than my old Craftsman, for example.I consider this a fair buy at the current asking price. The drawbacks I mentioned can only be alleviated by spending more money, and won't matter for some people. For someone wanting a high tooth count ratchet at a low price, this can be your ticket.
