I prefer metal hooks and these are the best. The smallest sizes are made of steel which is appropriate since aluminum in those sizes would bend. They have sizes that not everyone else has.

I love Boye hooks! I love the shape of the head of the hook and also the inward curve. I can't stand the Susan Bates style hook -- it splits yarn too easily. The Boye hooks are very smooth and doesn't split my yarn, which is especially good when working with cotton. The handles are soft to give my hands the comfort and stability they need without being spongy. I would highly recommend! Best gift for any crocheter!

I’ve tried several hooks, I like these best! Very comfortable & they seem pretty durable. I use F (3.75mm) the most for amigurumi, where I prefer worsted weight yarn. I (5.25mm) works for chenille yarn. So I’d say this pack is the best for crochet essentials, although I could use bigger (6.0mm) for chunkier yarn and some smaller hooks for thinner yarn or tricky details. I’ll have to see if more sizes are available. L

The three largest ones feel like the metal part could be a tad longer. Other than that, no real complaints. Comfortable to hold, acrylic yarn glides nicely.

Regular metal hooks caused me pains in my wrists and hands. These hooks have a comfortable grip, comfortable weight, and are pleasing to the eye. I can now crochet for hours at a time without experiencing pain. I have had these hooks for months and they are exactly the same as when I bought them.

The only negative I can say about this set is that the metal, hook part was a bit sticky to get going with my wool yarn. It needed some type of lubricant to keep the yarn from 'grabbing'. I used Merino wool so some of the natural oils seemed to do the trick. Comfort.......well, these are really great for my arthritic hands because I can grasp the handle shape so much easier & it makes them a pleasure to work with. Nice set of sizes for multi-use as well. Would recommend.

The steel hooks, especially, have both U.S. and mm. sizing imprinted on them. The aluminum ones also have U.S. sizing. I had ordered a set of steel hooks in the not too distant past and they came stamped with mm. sizes only. As an American crocheter, 99% of my patterns list numbers in the steel hooks and letters in the aluminum hooks. The 'BOYE' brand has consistently offered a quality product and these are no exception.Would I order again? You bet. Would I recommend them to a friend? Yes, again. I always recommend a multi color approach to aluminum crochet hooks because, in the back of your mind, you will know 'I used, or was using, X color on this project'.The pink zippered carrying case is just Bonus! My old crochet case was missing quite a few teeth after the many years of service and can't close anymore. I like to keep a few knitting markers and a yarn needle floating loose in my case, so a new case really was a treat. My only exception to the case is that I like to have my zipper tab at the top when closed. To my way of thinking the imprinted "BOYE" on the case is upside down and on the wrong side. But a free case is a free case & I will learn to live with it.

I bought these for my wife, and she can not get over how nice they feel in her hands! We will be replacing all of her needles with these in the future.

I bought a set of crochet hooks for a friend who is picking up knitting after 50 years of not knitting. Knitters need a set of basic crochet hooks for finishing, picking up stitches, fixing mistakes, etc. This set has the right sizes and a nice case. The price is good and I tucked the set into a new basket with some stitch markers, tape measures and snips. A good basic product.
