Setting a brake booster to master cylinder input rod can be done several ways with stuff you might have on hand. You can use calipers or other measuring devices, but you've got to fiddle about making sure that you're measuring to and from the right places. You can cut and draw a lines on a piece of cardboard, but that only gets you close. You can do it by trial and error, but that'a a lot of onand off with the master cylinder. This tool takes all of the guess work out of it. Put it on the master cylinder and set the depth. Then carry it over to the booster and adjust the input rod to match. Simple as that. This is my second one of these tools because I missplaced the first. Buying a second one, might tell you something about how handy it is.

This tool works for very little cash. If you replace a master cylinder you need this tool. Perfectly adjustable, and magnetic, which frees up a hand when measuring clearance.

Didn’t work on my 2010 suburban. Was able to modify it by cutting out some of the plastic on the inner side so it would fit and then it worked great.

The rod on the tool has a flat end and a rounded end. Out of the box it has the rounded end toward the master. I found that the rounded end fit too far into my master cylinder's concave hole. The pin coming off of the booster was much flatter, so the adjustment was off. I flipped the rod in the tool around to better match the pin on the booster and got a perfect measurement. Overall nice inexpensive tool.

I would recommend this to save all that silly time getting it right!Nicely made! Magnets make this tool work well.It did not come in a case, but, I'm placing it a plastic sleeve and not on the bottom of any toolbox. The inserted magnets hold on the booster and or steel MC. Of course it works on the aluminum MCs, but like anything aluminum, no magnet. Duh! :) I would recommend and buy this again if lost.

This tool is so easy to use and works great ! All you do is slide it into your master cylinder and lock it down with the finger screw, then stick it to your brake booster and it will show exactly what adjustment you need to do on your push rod. It has magnets on both sides to stick it on the booster. Great tool !
