Quick Plant Care Tips

Sunlight

SUNLIGHT

Your Meyer Lemon should be planted in a warm, sunny area where soil drains well and receives six or more hours of direct sunlight.

Planting

PLANTING

Use a pot large enough to let your tree’s roots spread. Fill the bottom of the pot with a 2-inch layer of crushed stone and a third part potting soil.

Water

WATER

Water your tree once every 7 to 10 days during midsummer. Newly planted trees may need more frequent watering until they’re established.

Pruning

PRUNING

Prune your Meyer Lemon every 1 or 2 years to keep it within bounds and easy to pick.

The tree was very healthy (the container it comes in is terrible) they tell you not to re-pot it right away but you have to as they give you a relatively uneven container that is light and falls over from a breeze

Generally happy plant, started blooming 2.5 months after receiving- smells delicious. BUT please beware of spidermites. They have taken over the entire room I have the tree in and I have now lost other previously healthy plants to the infestation. I’ve removed the tree, tried sprays and soaps, sacrificial plants- still, they persist. Whatever strain of spider mites these are are STURDY

For some reason I cannot upload pictures to this review. I received the tree in a box and the postal carrier CLEARLY didn’t care about all the big arrows saying “this side up” and I was so upset when I saw it upside down on the front step where the rain could easily break it down. I opened it and much to my surprise they had picked this sweet little guy so great that very minimal amount of dirt was spilled out. What a relief considering it’s like $80. I put it outside because we have about 2-3 months of warm weather in Seattle but it didn’t like that at all. So I brought it inside and put it in the WESTERN facing window (only 1 in the house) and all the leaves fell off. I was so upset and kicking myself for putting it outside. I went on a trip and 4 days later I looked at it and there were dozens of new leaves. Now, 3 mo later I gave lemon blooms!!!!! This is so crazy, literally it was on the edge of death and now it’s got blooms. So excited I cannot tell you. Wish I could upload photos to show the change. I figure that we may have eatable ones next summer. So excited! 🍋Update: if you want a tree that gives off the most amazingly fragrant blooms- BUY THIS ONE. While blooming it gave off the most amazing fragrance I have ever smelled from a plant. It lasted about 3 weeks and every time I went into my closet the fresh smell welcomed me.
