Does the job, just be careful not to bend the sheet metal.

Much larger and heavier than expected. The weight makes it difficult to use.

This ricer is awesome! If you don't want waxy over mixed mashed potatoes definitely get a ricer. This one is made for hard work, although some of the edges were a but sharp I just got a file and smooth that out.

It's very good for gently pressing spent fruit and grains after fermentation, if you don't need a larger and much more expensive augur type press. I haven't tried it with potatoes. They would probably need to be cooked first.

Bought as a substitute for a food mill to rice potatoes in the hope / belief that it would be easier to use and maintain. But it weighs an absolute ton and is therefore very heavy & hard hold while trying to push potatoes through - unless you're a huge person with a lot of upper body strength! The handles are not covered or padded so cut into your hands under pressure. However, the most egregious feature is that the dome & the presser just don't quite meet toegther. So despite your hefty efforts, you get a thick ridge of smashed potatoes that just doesn't ever go through the ricer and has to be scraped off repeatedly.....a really crappy design......Forget about the dishwasher. This has to lie flat, doesn't disassemble and therefore potato gets trapped in the corners. So it's just as much work cleaning as any food mill! Horrible gadget.

This review is based on 3 months regular use. What you need to know before buying:All the large capacity ricers are, well, large. They can be difficult to operate as designed if you have small hands. And if you take full advantage of the large capacity hopper, average or better strength is needed to squeeze the two handles together - you're pushing a lot of potato through some pretty small holes. There is a work-around, however. My partner has small hands: she fills the ricer, puts it on a sheet of parchment paper on the countertop and lets the countertop brace the lower handle while she pushes down on the upper handle. Problem solved. Also, it's way too big to fit in a drawer. The good things about the Browne model:Rices potatoes perfectly - produces creamy smooth mashed potatoes every time.Large capacity hopper gets the job done quickly.Solid welded-steel construction - no twisting or warping with this model even with the hopper full of potatoes.Easy to clean (easiest if you clean it right after use). The solid hook on the front gives you the option of stabilizing the ricer over a metal mixing bowl. (Best not to use a ceramic or plastic bowl.)Made in Taiwan - this is a solid, well made (albeit clunky looking) product, NOT another cheapie from China. The only problem is a common one with this style of ricer - some leakage of content around the pressure plate, but it's not a big deal.
