Had this for several months now. It seems to be sturdy to support the flag in high winds. Would recommend it. Was easy to install.

We actually use this to mount out Ring doorbell cam to the front siding of our house. It has been there for years and hasn’t seen discoloration, or deterioration due to weather. It’s sturdy and rigid enough for our use, fits snugly and perfectly to our siding, and the precut flower holes allow for easy cable management from any device. I’d you’re considering mounting any product to your siding but, like us, wanted a flat angle and not directly on the siding, then this is for you!

I’ll add some clarity I felt the description, questions, and other reviews were lacking. The back has grooved sections to make it easier to cut out a circle or rectangle. The hole in the center provides a place your saw can start from. I found that if you cut out a wedge from the center, you could then snap out the circle bit by bit without actually having to make a curved cut. The fit isn’t perfect with my fiber cement siding, but it’s close enough. It might fit more snuggly against vinyl. I have 1/2” lap and one person in the question section said that’s what this was so I went for it. It does appear to be 1/2, but the profile is more rounded at the corner and my siding has a sharper corner, hence the fit not being perfectly snug. Fortunately I’m using it under the eaves so water shouldn’t be an issue—this was more about aesthetics for me.

A polishing touch to installation of a flag on siding, that most homeowners don't bother with. I painted it to match the siding (recommended).

The backers are good quality - nicely finished and hefty. This review is really more a warning to folks who need them to back light fixtures that are already installed. If you have existing light fixtures already in place and the center pipe in the mounting bracket assembly does not extend at exactly the right spot relative to the siding lap, this product will not work. The hole is in the center of the backer. In our case, every light we tried to use one on was set just a little too high or low in the siding lap to be able to thread the back over the mounting pipe and seat the back against the siding lap. Just a snafu for us, but seems very possible it could be the case for other people. We may try expanding the hole or drilling a new on on a couple to see if we can achieve enough play get them up and seated properly without exposing the original punch out. I read back through reviews and noticed that many of the high marks are given for folks that used them for fixtures that have more flexibility behind the wall. Sensors, solar lights, etc. should work fine with these mounting plates and I will restate that they look nice and are good quality. Just beware if you need them for hardwired fixtures that have a heavier mounting bracket assembly.

This was easy install & actually worked for installing Ring device on our circa 1975 aluminum siding house....just need a good sealant to go around any gaps. Of course i say it was easy because my husband installed it, but it does look great!

Used four of these to evenly mount four outside lights and they look so much better now that they are flush mounted with the help of these...the lights I was replacing were ever-so-slightly angled up because I had mounted them directly to the vinyl siding on my stoop. Had I known about the existence of these years ago I would have used them because they look nice, are reasonably priced and they are easy to install. There are wire holes in the middle that thread through and the vinyl siding perfectly fits in the back groove to allow for a perfect mount. If I had to point to a minor downside it is that some lights have backplates that are designed to attach directly to an electric box in the wall and having this between requires drilling an extra hole but that is certainly not any reason to not use these because the lights look so much cleaner and nicer now that they are mounted perfectly straight.I posted a picture of our light for reference.
