This works just fine as intended. It is a little tight at the connection so it feels like it might be slightly difficult to open and close but it's actually nice that it doesn't fly open and closed easily. Overall I'd definitely recommend this. The black is really nice and makes it so you don't see residue from the candle.

As I have slowly been growing out my understanding and appreciation of candles and how to properly candle over the past 4 years, this marks a really nice milestone! As someone that always appreciated most scented candles I have been on a journey towards deeper understanding and application.As someone that but a ton of Yankee candles summer of 2020 I quickly came to understand both not all candles are created equal and went quickly into making my own soy and paraffin blended candles. Moving off from mass market into home made really broadened my horizon and I eventually learnt about proper candle upkeep and care as well as how to size both the wick (s) and the vessel appropriately. During this time especially with some of the cheaper wicks I would often use a tissue or some kind of paper product to trim back the wicks. This often worked okay, though would often have some piece of the carbonized wick fall onto the wax, which would lead to uneven heat distribution which would spiral. Which leads me to now....This has been a game changer for my candle maintenance game and is really great at what it does. I have been using it on all my candles and even when they are low I have not had any issues with it not working in a hard to reach area. It is really a great product and is the appropriate weight, it doesnt feel cheap and has a really satisfiying snip! Supper happy with it!

I wanted to up my candle game. Smells are the hot thing on the internet right now, and I’m here for it. I have a lot of candles. I hate when they get sooty or smoky, it just ruins the whole look. Sometimes the candle just sucks, but sometimes its because I need to pay more attention to the wick. When it gets a little curl or bump at the tip, that’s when you start to get the soot and smoke. This wick trimmer is perfect for snipping that right off and letting you begin your burn with a wick at exactly the right length (1/4”). The trimmer is heavy, made of a sturdy metal, and feels like something Victorian. It works perfectly, even on the candles that are deep in a jar. I’m glad I got this, and it has made my candle time that much more enjoyable.

I am really happy with this candle wick trimmer. It looks and feels like it is a more expensive and refined item, and blends in perfectly with my design aesthetic when I leave it out on the mantle. I was very impressed by the ease of use and convenience it provided in maintaining the wicks of my candles. Every candle owner should purchase this wick trimmer as it is sharp and so dang easy to use! In the past I’ve just used scissors but they end up making a mess and are really awkward to. I wish I’d gotten one of these years ago to save myself some trouble. Highly recommend.

I was so excited to finally have one of these, that I carried it around the whole house, trimming every candle- most of which had needed it for a while. Used to using scissors for the job, (and then having to clean them before using them on something else) I appreciated having a tool specific to the job. This worked well on short and tall candles in jars. The length and angle of this trimmer allowing for me to reach into candles that had been burned down a-ways. It is comfortable enough to hold for the short duration of these fixes. I carried a square of tissue around with me as I trimmed to collect the pieces of cut candle wick and wipe it off between candles. This also came in a box that is good enough to give it as a gift if you wished. It is smooth feeling metal (which I like the smoothness) and it seems solidly built as if it will last awhile. Yay for making my candle life easier!

I'm giving this item only 4 stars because I did not receive the item I ordered. The packaging is branded correctly, but the wick trimmer itself is stamped "-NTIQUE CANDLE CO." I assume it should say "antique,' but the "A" is missing. This doesn't affect the trimmer's functionality, and overall it works as expected. The material is a nice weight, the hinge is smooth and the trimmer catches the pieces of wick you're snipping so they don't end up floating in the candle wax. Using a trimmer is a great way to extend the life of a candle, eliminate sooty burn, and ensure an even burn.
