- Wireless printing requires a working Ethernet network with wireless 802.11b/g or n capability. Wireless performance may vary based on terrain and distance between the printer and wireless network clients.

The printer is easy to set up and wifi on it works great. Printed documents look good and are printed quickly. One of my favorite features of the printer is the ability to do automatic double sided printing. It's also great to have a scanner for when I need one in a pinch. Honestly though, I've never used a fax and I don't think I ever will. It's a dying piece of technology and I could have used without it. That's more of a personal issue though.My complaints about the printer stem from the fact that I would have spent the extra money to get the version one tier up that has individual compartments for each color of ink. Unfortunately this printer doesn't have generic ink cartridges (at least none that I could find) and Canon ink is expensive. I needed to replace the ink after a couple months of moderate use which isn't the worst but considering I rarely used color, is a bit of a let down.All in all, it prints what I need it to print even if it eats up my wallet a little quicker than I'd prefer. It's an alright printer.

It was very easy and straightforward to install the printer on my wireless network. The print quality is excellent in both color and black and white. Using the auto feeder is not as easy as similar HP printers.Also, the HP Solutions process is much easier in scanning in documents. With the MX512 scan software, I am not sure where the scanned documents are stored and it takes a few minutes to find them after they have been scanned in. Maybe that is due to my experience with HP Solutions, where I just tell the software where I want the scanned documents to be stored.The tray for catching printed pages is much too small, and consequently, the pages fall on the floor when they are printed. The printer looks nice, although a bit bulky. Canon needs to use a larger tray to catch the printed documents.Overall, I like the MX512, and as I get more experience in using it, I will probably like it even more. The price was reasonable, it was delivered by Amazon very quickly, and the setup was easy. So far, the ink usage seems reasonable, compared to my experience with other ink-jet printers.

Intro:I'm a college student and so is my fiance. We made the mistake of thinking we could get away with buying cheap monochrome printer that only printed in black and white and we certainly got what we paid for. After much discussion we both decided maybe we should look into getting something a little more reliable with more features. I decided to start shopping around on amazon to see what we can find. This particular printer had everything we need and wouldn't put a huge dent in our wallets to purchase it. Here are some pros and cons:Pros:- Everything it prints has sharp crips color, even the black and white stuff.-Setup is amazingly easy, and it setups itself up to your wifi. You just push a button on your wireless router and the printer takes care of the rest.-Instructions are clear and easy to read and offer to the point instructions.-From the reviews I've read it doesn't seem like anybody has used the fax on this, but seeing as I need to fax things often I liked the fax feature it had. It prints out a fax report if the fax did not go through, and just gives you a "transmitted" message if the fax does go through. Also setting up the fax is just a click of a button and it configures it self. We have digital cable so I can't attest to the fact on whether or not you'll need to buy a DSL filter to send faxes through this.-Not sure why people were having so much trouble with this, but I didn't have to set up my iphone 4S on this printer to use AirPrint. I just automatically did it from my phone, no USB cable needed. Maybe its just the iphone 4 and earlier that need it? Either way, I didn't have an issue with this and AirPrint is amazing!!Cons:- The ink is expensive, and from what I've read the cost per page is kinda outrageous. I believe I read somewhere that its like 12 cents per page. So it probably isn't a good idea to purchase this if you are going to be printing a lot.-Some people have said this is a con, but I found that as long as you fully extend out the items on the paper tray, your papers wont go flying everywhere.Overall:For its price, this is an amazing printer. I also got a little sample pack of photo paper to print my photos on! I would really recommend this printer for their home use as its a good quality brand, and has some really good quality features.
