The concept is great, Howerver, the handle does not stay anchored in the door latch. On several occasions my Mom pulled it out of the latch leading to greater instability. If dementia was not an issue the handle would likely work fine, it is very solid and sturdy construction.

This little gadget is great. It gives just enough of an extra horizontal surface to help getting in and out of my Scion with my challenged hip.I also like the wood surface so my hand can smoothly rotate as needed and not with the resistance of cheap rubber, plastic etc.Seems very well made and durable. The little bag is a nice touch for storage.So glad I chose this one and would buy it again, if need a second one.

This is the second handle we've tried. The first one didn't fit in the latch well so it wasn't stable. This one fits right and holds steady. At first this elderly, disabled person didn't feel confident with it, but after a few times he got used to it and now he wants to use it. I recommend this handle but if one doesn't work with your door latch, try another.

I was not so sure about this when I purchased it, but I have found it very helpful. I have a 90-year-old that transport sometimes, and she loves the added option to give her stability as she gets out of my van. It easily slips in and out of the door latch. I keep in the in the pocket on the back of the seat for easy access. So glad I purchased it!
