I was concerned that a 6mm shank wouldn't fit well in a 1/4" collet (I only have imperial sizes), but my R8 collet took up the 0.010" slack with no apparent problems. I ran a few test cuts on 1018 material and they came out well. I didn't push the feed rate too hard because of the small shank and the not-perfect collet fit.
