Switched to the Vitamix FoodCycler last year but struggled with overpriced OEM filters ($25 every 2 months). Tried this filter as a cheaper alternative, and wow—2.5 lbs of activated charcoal lasts 6 months with heavy use (coffee grounds, onion peels daily). The pellets are larger than Vitamix’s but lock into the filter tray securely. Zero leaks, zero “compost stink” even in my tiny apartment kitchen. Pro tip: Tap the filter gently during installation to settle the charcoal—works like a charm!

My OXO Stainless Steel Compost Bin is a kitchen staple, but its original filters shed charcoal dust everywhere. This replacement filter’s low-dust design is a game-changer—no more wiping black residue off the counter! The 2.5 lb weight fills the bin’s filter slot fully, trapping odors from fish scraps and citrus peels overnight. At half the cost of OXO’s filters, I’m sold. Just wish they sold bulk packs for households like mine that compost daily!

As a 3-year user of the Lomi Gen 1 composter, I started searching for alternatives after the original filters jumped to $29 every 3 months. Though this filter’s packaging is simpler, the 2.5 lb weight is no joke—the activated charcoal pellets are denser. In real-world testing with the same daily compost load (1.5L of veggie scraps/fruit peels), odor control lasted 5 months, matching Lomi’s OEM filters but at 40% cheaper. Note: Align the filter carefully with the slot during installation—it took me 2 minutes to figure out the angle initially, but it’s quick once you get it.

Bought a “Lomi-compatible” filter from another brand to save money, but the size misfit caused leaks that stunk up my kitchen for a week. This filter clicks perfectly into my Lomi—no gaps, no odor escapes. It even outperformed the OEM filter when processing shrimp shells (eliminated the smell in 12 hours vs. 18 hours). The heft of the package proves the weight isn’t exaggerated. Already recommended to my composting group neighbors!
