This adapter is slim and looks like any Carplay adapter. However it got a stand-alone Android system and inside the system it can connect to my android phone while it's connected to an carplay system. This mean for cars with Carplay compatibility Android phones can take advantage of the display as well.It is a full fledged Android system that you can connect to WiFi, Bluetooth and use app store to download apps. Nice there is a 4g card slot for internet if you need internet on the go.The con is that there is a lack of physical button to switch phones, especially you got two person both with phones in the car. There is a pin hole to switch Carplay and Android auto system but who carries a pin? And no pin was provided in the box.It only connects to car displays. I tried to connect to a computer but that does not work. Really there is missed potential here that this cannot be used on other kinds of displays.

I had a wireless Android Auto adapter. Those devices work well for most people but mine was hit or miss. I would have to fiddle with the rebooting the device and messing with bluetooth settings to get it work, only to have it happen again. I think it was a problem with my 22 Honda Accord because hard wired AAuto and another adapter showed similar behavior. I did notice that Apple Carplay was reliable. This devices emulates an iPhone's Carplay protocol. It turned out to work great. I have a truly reliable solution now that is both a standalone Android computer that can work without a phone, and it can provide AAuto and Carplay connectivity when you do use a phone. I threw a Google Fi SIM card in there. It only does 4G but that's fine for this sort of device. I ran a speed test and can see close to 50mb/s when I am in an area with a good signal. Google FI has a plan where you can get up to 4 data cards that share data with your primary SIM card. |This device also has a good bit of storage. I was able to set up Spotify to download the songs on my playlist so I can listen to music when I am offline, or if I want to conserve data. I also like that I can install almost any Android app and use it. AAuto will only work with apps that are made for AAuto and are approved by Google. The only app that did not work was the MyQ garage door app, which was not a big deal since the garage remote is easier to useThe only negatives are that it can be buggy at times. I have had to reboot it a few times because it loses touc sensitivity. It only seems to happen when I am messing around, installing new apps and performing other testing. It does not happen n my day-to-day usage. The only other negative is audio lag. This thing gets marketed as a solution to watch video on your car screen. I tried it a bit with YouTube and there is a VERY noticeable lag. I don't care enough about video to work on trying to fix this issue since that's essentially a parlor trick for me. My main objective was to get a reliable music and navigation solution, and this thing fullfils that mission nicely.Closing thoughts:- There is a similar device by the same maker that supports HDMI and USB mouse and keyboard. I think it's called the Carlinkit UHD. Those features could be useful to use the device as a portable computer that you can hook up to a TV or monitor. It could also theoretically be used as a game console, but the CPU and GPU are not powerful enough for more demanding games. HDMi and USB could also make it easier to tinker with it in the comfort of your home instead having to deal with your car touch screen. I think that model is about $30 more, but if I had to do it again, I think I would get that one.- you can save something like $40 if you order this direct from the maker's China based store. Of course, that means it will take weeks to arrive and you won't have the peace of mind of having Amazon customer service protection. I did the former and it worked out for me. They send tracking info and I was able to follow delivery progress.

I got this for a family member and they are very happy with it. It connects to a carplay compatible system (but nothing else) and connects to an android phone. The buffering is good on the videos, I'm told, and overall it's quite easy to use for those with a mind for such things (some, like me and my wife, might be a bit baffled by it). For that huge price, though, I do wonder at how pigeon-holed the manufacturer has made this item, when additional software might have made it usable in a variety of other environments, like with a laptop, perhaps.

The adapter is amazing. I could watch YouTube videos and Netflix in my car. The system is very responsive and no lagging at all.

Car did an update and this thing no longer works. No way to find info on how to fix or if it is even possible. I would never ever buy one of these products again as they do not have good info on how to fix or if they even can be. Expect any purchase to become a paperweight within a year.
