I purchased a Carter fuel pump for my boat. When I received product the box was open on the bottom. The seal was on the top of the box. It seemed to be in good shape so I installed it on my boat. When I tried to crank up to start it, it took a long time before it started. I started to smell gas so I looked for any leaks. To my surprise a lot of gas was coming out of the fuel pump leaking into the bilge! I stopped the engine immediately and I removed the pump from the engine. The first thing I checked was to see if all the screws were tight and they were not. They needed to be tightened at least 1 turn or more.On the box it stated that this product WAS factory 100% TESTED and Approved.

Exact same part as the Volvo Penta fuel pump I was replacing, but for less than half the price. When I say it's the same, it had the same part number and both pumps were stamped "Carter". Easy to swap.Used on a Volvo 5.7GL
