Building your own network and running the cables is a relatively easy job if your attic or basement are accessible, and if you have the right too for the terminations and connectors, then you're almost there as a pro, fortunately this crimping tool kit is very good and allows you to do the connectors very easily, with minimal effort. And i don't care what anyone says, no commercial consumer wifi can compete with a good wired network.

This is a nice little crimping kit for someone starting out with creating their own cables. It comes with a pass through crimper, a side cutters, a couple of wire strippers, a cable tester and some RJ45 ends to get you started.The crimper feels very sturdy and seems to do a good job of crimping the ends on. The blade on the back shears off the excess wire very cleanly. I've only used one of the two wire strippers so far but have had good success on my projects.I also appreciate the wire tester. No matter what, when crimping cables, there will always be a time or two where the wire just didn't connect right or the end wasn't crimped just enough to make all the connections. Being able to test it right after crimping saves you a lot of headaches down the road. The device is simple enough with it displaying a light for each wire making it easy to spot a bad connection.Overall, this is a great little kit. For those starting out, pass through crimpers are much more forgiving and this kit provides everything you'd need to get going (minus the cable). Thumbs up from me.

I had never used “pass-thru” connectors.I now see and understand the appeal … being able to verify color sequence and alignment of strands.Make sure to keep the plug connector fully inserted during the crimp/cut to ensure that the strands are cut cleanly flush with the plug. Otherwise slight protruding wire ends will make insertion difficult.

It's nice to have all of the extra stuff. The clippers work well, the mini cable stripper works exceptionally well, the multiply cable stripper has some neat features but I prefer the mini. The cable tester is simple and works fine, I haven't bothered with the strain relief boots and the pass through connectors are just as good as the others I have. They're quite basic. I can't get the crimper to properly cut the pass thru cables when crimping. It works, but I always have to get the clippers out and get it more precise. There's also no diagram for wiring on the actual crimper which it does show in the instruction manual. Not a big deal, eventually it'll be burned into my brain and I won't need a diagram and until then I can just use google.
