Unfortunately even when you fill this with water it is no way 60 lbs. it will not hold a free standing umbrella and that is what I needed. Thought of putting sand in it instead but the hole is so small it would take forever to fill.

Poor, screw that attaches the pole to the base, not included. The base rattled as if that may have been the screw, but it wasn't falling out easy. I wasn't going to play the game of figuring it out for the price PAID! Very inconvenient to my time of waiting and having to return!

This company C-Hopetree shipped my umbrella stand without anything other then the base. Absolutely unacceptable. It's missing so many parts, I couldn't believe that a company can be so irresponsible.

There's nothing that holds the umbrella shaft to the actual base so after you put the bolt in through the bottom to the umbrella shaft no matter how tight you make it you can spin the base around the umbrella shaft, so when you put an umbrella in and tighten the side handle with an open umbrella the wind can turn the umbrella freely...the only way around this would be to screw the bolt plate to the base it's self but that would be counter productive as it would then leak all of your water out eventually.

Needs to be filled with water or sand or both water and sand with anti-freeze additive. But the fill hole is ridiculously small to pour sand in. It's just a hollow plastic base that will fade in UV light and not hold up to a winter environment. It's adequate, just adequate. No more, no less. Not great, not useless. Adequate only.

This has been great, I bought it as we had a large and expensive parasol that used to fit through a hole in a large oak patio table but the table got damaged so was upcycled into planters. I had been looking for some way to mount the parasol and discovered this. I filled it with coarse sand and 5 litres of antifreeze for added weight. There is a screw to clamp the parasol pole but with the diameter of the pole just slightly smaller than the hole in the base it was mainly just to secure the parasol.even with a strong breeze the parasol was secure and I suspect that the wooden spokes would break in stronger wind before the base could be lifted.I would be shocked if it doesn't last through the winter with the antifreeze in it too.I'm very happy with this and would recommend it,

Works for me, bought cheap one and wind knocked over couple of times, thought I would try this one. So far works good, umbrella wiggles in wind up to 20 mph. But doesn't blow over, cheap one, umbrella blew up and flew into back door of house. need to replace back door now. I'll see how long this one lasts, I used sand and water for the weight and is reason I bought.

Way overpriced. However, there aren't many options. When filled with sand, it is very sturdy

The ad said this was a metal frame... but when I received it only the inside piece is metal, the exterior is plastic that you had to fill with sand and water. I have a 9ft oblong umbrella, this holds pretty well, during a quick rain storm the umbrella was in the stand but not open, and the wind knocked it over. If you use this stand make sure your umbrella is smaller than 9ft.
