In the 90's I used to be a parts guy in a large local parts chain. Cloyes was at the time a well respected aftermarket company, very equal or better than other aftermarket rivals. Two years ago I needed a timing set for another Ford I worked on (4.6 DOHC). I felt confident ordering & installing the full Cloyes set based upon their record from days gone by...that set lasted about 7K miles before the links in the chain (between the DOHC cams) destroyed themselves! The rollers literally came apart & blew the chain apart. I had to do the entire job over again on MY dime, but this time with OE Ford parts = EXPENSIVE! Pretty sure Cloyes crap is now made in China, however no badging to say so that I have seen. Regardless, I am done with these guys! And am leery of most aftermarket companies lately, who knows who has decent parts anymore?Never buying Cloyes again!
