I tried this with a PS2 and a Panasonic PV-D4742. The PS2 does nothing at all, while the Panasonic only shows garbage then goes into the colour bars screen. Before you ask, no, there isn't anything wrong with the 2 devices. They both work fine on other video sources.

Stopped working after 5 months. The picture started growing darker. The box was very warm. And then it stopped working. No warranty. I picked up a Porta instead. I wonder if there was adequate cooling...original review:nice device. nice price. It does a better job than my tv's native component to hd circuitry. Maybe a bit darker picture than I expected. My PS2 and Wii have never looked better. When you press the zoom button, it should display something on the screen (No zoom, zoom 1, zoom 2 etc), since the resolution button does display the current resolution on the screen. There's very little difference between the zoom settings, so it can be confusing trying to find the best setting. I find myself pressing the zoom button over and over again and I never really know which zoom setting is best. This lack of screen feedback kind of takes away from my enjoyment of using this setting.Weirdly, my LG TV SOMETIMES maintains a ghost image, under other video content, of the test pattern this device generates when the video input is off. Turning the TV off and on again clears this up. I think it may have something to do with my TV's passive 3d screen.

I got this for an older DVD player (composite) that I wanted to connect to my newer Sony Bravia via HDMI. I got it hooked up and the DVD logo came up and I thought "yay this is going to work". But as soon as I tried playing a DVD, the screen became distorted. I tried on two other TVs and including one older Sony and had the same issues. I checked all connections and they were right. I then connected the DVD to the older TV as it was before with a composite/video in adaptor and it worked fine so it's not the DVD player. May have worked for others but not for me. I'm returning it.

By using all three devices together, I get an ultra crisp and processed 4k image with anti aliasing and depth of field. I use retrovision component cables for ps2, and by scaling the image with the sunnatch to 600p, the mclassic does lots of work cleaning everything up and I no longer need outdated home brew to force progressive resolutions to trigger my scaler. Essentially, all games that don't support gsm will work flawlessly with this setup.

My Usecase:Connecting a DVD/VCR combo to capture card to digitize old tapes.Pros:Pretty good overall. I love the amount of options for output. And it's a great performer for upscaling to higher resolution. Build quality is all metal and rarely heats up during use. Good brightness levels.Cons:When compared to a similar Startech device, which uses RCA to upscale to 720p. While this Sunnatch unit has a higher brightness, it has a lower contrast between objects than the Startech. There is also a notable difference in grain noise when compared to the Startech. The Sunnatch makes a lot more noise. There's also the problem of overscan. On the top and side of the image, there is a white line and empty space. Conclusion:This device is fantastic for the price, especially with all of the output options, but I think I'll stick with my Startech for a clearer image. Don't get me wrong: the Sunnatch is a fantastic piece of equipment for the price, especially since the StartTech was more than twice as much.

I bought this for converting my XBox and PS2 to HDMI, and both have good quality Component cables.I bought this because my RetroTink 2X Pro won't do 480p, only 480i maximum, and let me tell you, there is a HUGE difference in quality from 480i to 480p, the picture is much cleaner in 480p!This converter here is pretty good, nicely built, aluminum case, and actually have 4:3 ratio resolutions like 800x600, 1024x768, and it doesn't stretch! (if it still do stretch, check on your TV settings for a feature that might stretch the picture, like "Zoom" or "Wide" or "stretch to screen").It does have a 5:4 resolution too, 1280x1024. But if you play PS2 or XBox games, best would be 1024x768. (on XBox, you need to enable 480p and 720p, and keep the picture to "Normal" so it won't stretch 4:3 in 16:9 which is ugly if the game doesn't support it)The only downside is it seem to boost the brightness or gamma up a bit, so you will most likely have to change the picture setting on your TV, lower gamma or brightness or something. It's a great converter! I bought it mostly to be able to play and stream games on Twitch from my XBox and PS2, and because my RetroTink 2X Pro isn't able to do 480p, i'm not paying 300$US+ for a RetroTink 5X. But this Sunnatch converter here is much cheaper, and does the trick nicely, definitely MUCH better than those other converters which can only do stretched 720p-1080p which is really ugly. Also there doesn't seem to have any delay with the picture when you play videogames thru the converter.I recommend it if you want to play any videogame console or DVD players with a Component cable. Very flexible with resolution ratios, 4:3, 5:4, 16:9. Definitely a great deal for the price! (45$CAN when i bought it). If you own many devices with Component, i would also recommend a Component switch box.

This was a surprise to me of the overall quality. I like the metal case instead of plastic. The internals look well made and has a heatsink to help with cooling and performance. A ton of different scaling options for the price. Colors look good and audio sounds normal. I do think maybe the colors are a little dim but it could be the testing media I was using. You can correct this with a gamma increase in your screen settings. Of note you cannot pass composite signal through this only component. I cannot speak to longevity of this because I’ve only had it a couple of weeks. But the build quality makes me think it will last.I hope to do a comparison video of this and a GBS-Control on my YouTube channel Game Central Station so keep an eye on that. I think for the everyday person who doesn’t want to have to tinker with expensive scalers this is a very good option for the money.

Installation was easy as it was replacing a similar unit that failed. No loss in picture quality compared to straight HDMI connection. The red LED is bright so you may need to cover it with tape like I did.I do have to power-cycle it after several days to get the audio. Not sure why, but after a restart it's good for another several days.

I've fairly disappointed in this product, while it does actually function, and will allow you to upscale component video for your HD displayNo, I did not expect 'True 1080p quality', from the ps2, but I had at least hoped it would look as good plugging in my component cables directly into the TV. But it looks NOTICEABLY worse.Additionally, it does not seem to properly de-interlace content, so the lag is low, but you'll get some noticeable combing artifacts.(Is combing better than blur? I'll leave that up to you, but there are better ways to handle 480i content.)The clarity of the image is fine, but it lacks contrast and vibrancy.YES, you can adjust your TV's setting to help compensate, but the lost color data can't really be recovered, you can just try to tweak what's left.I was planning on rating it lower, but I figure it's still at least 'usable' and will work fine For DVD playback, and the scale even means out of region DVD players will actually be usable (even if they may not be scaled properly...)So if you need to play PAL DVD's or even PAL ps2 games, and have a system that will read the discs, you'll be able to use them on your NTSC TV via component! But that's where my positives with this product end..Yes, PS2 games will still look bury on modern displays regardless of your setup, the resolution is very low,But this box somehow manages to make everything look worse,(Amazon likely compresses the images, sorry)The image is washed out, way too bright, and there are combing artifacts everywhere there's motion.Even adjusting my TV's Brightness/contrast, I still could not get it to look right, I even tried other displays...(Other consoles look fine, and the 'No signal' screen looks nice and vibrant, so it's clearly not my display)And the combing artifacts on objects in motion means that you'll have this weird stripy pattern over everything that moves,Also, even though the seller personally told me, this adaptor supports PS1 / PS2 games on a PlayStation 2 consoles (and that they tested them), however this seems to not be able to handle a 240p signal, so that means that around 99% of PlayStation 1 games won't actually show up. You'll just get 'no signal'.I wanted to give the product the benefit of the doubt, maybe I just got a bad one...So I contacted the primary seller (DECOKON) to ask if there was a fix to any of these issues, they ignored pretty much ignored all the problems, and just said "the more you upscale, the blurrier the picture will get!"I kept trying though, and even asked about the ps1 games issue, and their only solution was to play 480i ps1 games? ..that makes up around 2.5% of the USA library, (less worldwide)( I appreciate that they at least tried to help, but I don't think they fully understood the problem)But yeah overall, you'd be better going with a non-scaler box if you need a cheap way to convert component video to hdmi, then your TV could properly deinterlace it without combing artifacts. The only real use case I see for this, is if you REALLY need a cheap box to convert 480i for a PC monitor,This supports a number of monitor resolutions, and as they don't normally support 480i, this could fit the bill for some. But even excluding the PS2 stuff, I'd say this is not worth it for most people.
