Needed it quick, original 18 years old and leaking, coming up on 100f/40c degree July weather. This unit is a close but not quite correct copy. As all 4.2L Jags are the same basic head to coolant system setup it is hard to understand why this is within 1/4 inch of fitting properly. The problem is with the 4 bolt holes on the ears bolted to the head- ORANGE circles. These are reinforced by steel sleeves like the originals to prevent over torquing and stiffen the plate-to-mounting surface seal. These holes are difficult to line up due to the several angles created by this setup. Took a while to figure out that the unit is off by about 1/4 inch~6mm somewhere. Quick and dirty fix is to pop out those reinforcements (we don't need no stinkin' warranty!) to make up the difference and add washers to keep the pressure spread out. We'll see if this holds up. BTW the old 1 was seeping from the weird sealed end -BLUE arrow. Gave off small whiffs of coolant off and on.The temp sensor is the wrong 1 for this car, no big deal. But hadn't noticed the real quality difference until the new 1 was out- the O.E. unit has a professional brass insert threaded to make a great seal. This copy has a plastic threaded hole to match. It'll do but the other fittings like the EGR nipples, etc. look pretty cheesey.Hope it lasts a while. Won't cheap out again, it's worth the quality $100 vs this choice.

Temp sensor did not fit had to use old one. the metal inserts for the bolt holes they came out as I was tightening down the bolt and possibly didn't seat the part correctly hopefully it seats if not will have to remove whole part and restart from beginning.

This item is a very poor fitting replacement. Bolt holes do not line up properly, requires modification to make it work. I would have returned it if I had the time. Should have spent the extra $$ and buy original. I do not recommend this item.On Edit, one year and 2000 miles later...it has developed a crack and a very slow leak which means I'll have to do this work again. I assume the crack stems from the poor fit. Also, the heater hose supply nipple ist't drilled in this assembly. Must use the old outer thermostat housing to make it work. This part is complete rubbish. My application is a 2003 Jaguar S-type with 4.2l V8. fortunately, there's a low coolant indicator in this car, otherwise this part could potentially leak enough coolant to cause overheating of the engine, which would result in certain catastrophic failure of this aluminum engine. Be aware!

Don't waste your money. The description claims to cover these part numbers -【OE Part Numbers AJ85730, AJ85824, AJ85886, AJ87364, AJ87947.I can confirm that if you are looking for AJ85824 then it will not fit as a whole part. One section of it did fit, but overall the whole part does not do the job.You will need the pipe section of this amazon part to fit onto part AJ85824 if you cannot get a complete part.In the end we had to buy a second hand part which did not come with the smaller pipe section shown on the picture of this product and fit the two parts together.Due to a shortage of the particular part number AJ85824 (at this moment in time there are none in the UK - where they've been on back order for over 8 months!) there was sadly no other option.Hopefully it holds up and hopefully Jaguar start manufacturing this part again (please!)
