The thermostats that come with it will not plug in.

We purchased these in 2022 for a Mother-in-law that we added onto our house. They are still working great. The parents seem to really enjoy them. They heat and cool very well. My 90 year old mom likes it to be 82! Whew. Too warm for us. The only back draw is that the filters need to be cleaned every 2 weeks. Not a big deal but kind of a pain.

Got this because it was the best rated ceiling unit. My father installed this for me, he has installed a few of his own and some for my brothers all different brands. This one was the hardest for him as the directions are not clear and lack vital info. He watched a few youtube videos for the info the directions were missing. Works good not as quiet as the wall mounted units ive seen but still barely noticable. Chilled/heated quickly. There is a delay turning on and off so dont expect it to adjust to your remote imputs right away.

What the description fails to explain is the inside unit was designed to hang from a concrete type construction with a floating ceiling, the hardware is completely set up to drill holes in concrete and use supplied hardware to hange at the height of your floating false ceiling. Insulation into a rafter constructed home is much more complex and will require you to build a brace for the hole the unit will fit into. Not a simple installation.

I installed this unit and two ceiling cassettes myself then had an HVAC company come and vacuum test them before releasing the coolant. There were no leaks. We are happy with them in both heat and cool mode. We have an outdoor wood boiler but this does a good job heating on cool mornings when the wood boiler is off. It does make a creaking sound sometimes in heat mode which is annoying when trying to sleep. The thermostats are not accurate so you can’t go by the number per say. Just find the number where you are comfortable and don’t really worry what that number is exactly. Says 74 but it’s really only 70 in the room. Overall and for the price, they are well worth it.

Operation of the wall thermostat makes no sense. When set to "follow me", the temp should track the wall thermostat temp but it doesn't. If set at 68f, it usually waits to hit 65 before turning on and I've seen the temps hit 72f. It does this with both ceiling cassettes I have. When the follow me feature is off, the wall unit only shows the set poing and not the actual room temp. This is totally useless. As for the ceiling cassette, the RED defrost light is always ON even though the outside unit is offand the led turns off when the system is on. Nothing makes sense and I could go on and on about other things that don't work, like the manual doesn't match the thermostadts config options and what happens when "follow me" is enabled on both the wall unit and remote. And finally, your Sophia systems are not eligible for federal or local energy company rebates. I was going to install units in 3 homes and glad I only bought one system to test

It was a lot of work to install the ceiling cartriges in my upstairs bedrooms but it's worth it now that it's done. It appears to be built with quality parts.I will point out a design flaw though. The plastic grille panel that mounts to the evaporator doesn't seat correctly to make a seal against the weatherstripping. The servo motor on the grille panel is mounted so it is flush with the weatherstripping and it hits the metal chasis of the evaporator unit. This prevents the panel from mounting flush and compressing the weatherstripping leaving a gap on that corner. I corrected it by cutting into the sheet metal chasis of the evaporator unit and it turned out fine but this design error really should be fixed.
