This had some bass will meet or exceeded any expectation you will ever have in a camp or backpacking style ax! Very good quality, perfect handles, and a bulletproof mask!

Heavy duty. Cuts good. You will have to learn the right swing for this axe because the bit is closer the handle and you will hit the handle easier with a misplace strike, but the handle is heavy duty and will last. The overall fit and finish is near perfect, vertical grain, perfect head to handle fit. I've used it a couple of times and I'm haven't desided where to place it in my hults bruk, gransfors bruk, council tool axe collection. I do like it.

I was really exicited about as I did a lot of research before purchasing a $100+ boys axe.I bought this for camping task like preparing wood for a fire. I received this item about a week after I ordered it and before I took it out I loved it. The owners manual is a joy to read, the handle is perfectly crafted and the head is absolutely beautiful and is/was razor sharp. That is where my pros of this axe ends. I took this out for a winter camping trip in December of 2014 in NW Iowa upon trying to split its first piece of wood the edge on the beard of the axe started to maar and deform. Which though disturbing I figured all companies will have a mistake from time to time, surely if I contact them Council Tool will take care of me. Well, I was wrong. I have called them many time and have left them several messages and have used their page to send them emails and have not heard one word from them.I would love to recommend this axe and this company but they will not let me, due to their bad products and horrible customer service.

Nice axe but not worth the $. Sheath came damaged. It can be had for cheaper elsewhere. Go with a gransfors brukes instead. Council tool customer service is terrible. What a shame. Went with the council because it was made in USA. Disappointed greatly with council. Shipped extra fast for Christmas though.

I have been drooling over this axe forever.I love it. it is sharp as hell and holds an edge. protect with light coat of oil like 3-in-1 or rem oilawesome handle, but you need to protect it with some boiled linseed oil, It's pretty cheap off amazon.can be used 2 handed or one handed if you choke up on it or your really buff. good for NON-minimalist backpackers.also comes with an awesome leather sheath with snaps, very high quality. both axe and sheath are made in the U.S.A./

-Solid, sturdy construction.-Very sharp blade right out of the box.-Great packaging. (including brochures)-Made in the USA…-Lightweight (but substantial); Able to be used one-handed if desired.-Perfect size for backpacking or even wearing at the hip. (if you are above 5'6'')-Can be used for hard woods with no problem (Including mesquite..which I use all the time).-BETTER than Gransfors models? You be the judge… I say they're about even (depending on what type of wood you're hacking into)… Council might be better for the hardwoods.
