For my use, it was not suitable. The biggest problem was the loose bottom piece, which stuck to the plunger when raised. I did not use it for potatoes.

I bought this to rice cauliflower and found that it did not work so well with my arthritic hands. Sounds like it works much better for mashed potatoes or other vegetables that are not so fibrous.

I use this for pressing herbs used for infusion. The design is sturdy enough to press the herbs very dry, extracting most of the moisture. Nicely finished, sturdy, easy to clean.

I love my newest kitchen gadget! I used it over Thanksgiving and it was easy to use, easy to clean and my potatoes were perfect! I Use the gold potatoes which are a softer potato and everyone loved them. Thanks Cuisinox!
