The potato ricer is functional. Under the load of squeezing, it makes some strange creaking noises that I think are the cheap metal flexing. It doesn't feel like it is going to last a long time. Before using it I was worried that the removable discs would move out of place when it is opened, but they stayed in place okay. If you are going to have something take up this much space in your kitchen drawer, you should probably make sure it's of a quality that you will enjoy using. All of that said, if you haven't had mashed potatoes prepared with a potato ricer, you may be missing out - the texture really is lovely.

This is an attractive heavy built stainless steel potato ricer. I know that people who insist on extremely smooth mashed potatoes tend to value these as something of their secret to making incredibly smooth Non lumpy mashed potatoes. While I do quite a lot of cooking, I do have a very weird quirk. I tend to love a few lumps in my mashed potatoes. I tend to like the texture. I am not talking about a lot of lumps, but I do like a few. So, the question is, why would I like or value a potato ricer.I am part Norwegian and one of the foods within my heritage tends to utilize a potato ricer. The item for which I will be utilizing this ricer is called lefse. (Leff-sah phonetically) It is made of potatoes and resembles a burrito in appearance. Typically, it is smeared with a layer of butter and is then rolled up into a cylinder, much like the appearance of a burrito. That is where the similarity ends, however. The taste is entirely unlike a burrito.Particularly on holidays it tends to be a favorite around my home. In fact, with Easter fast approaching, I will be planning to make a batch of lefse for the occasion of Easter. Christmas also tends to be a favorite time for Lefse as well.To make Norwegian style Lefse one does tend to need a good heavy duty potato ricer. I can tell simply by the heft and the appearance of this ricer that it will be excellent for ricing potatoes in preparing lefse. The high shine finish makes it easier to clean it up, and the heft makes it easier to press the softened cooked potato through the ricer end. This well-made potato ricer is an excellent tool. For someone who wants to prepare very smooth non lumpy mashed potatoes, this beautiful tool will effortlessly facilitate that purpose. Or, if you are someone like me who wants to prepare Norwegian style lefse, this beautiful tool will enable that task to be far easier as well. This potato ricer is well made. and is sufficiently large to make the task far easier. Ricers can be used for other purposes as well. They have been used to make baby food, apple butter or even spaetzle. Given my experience with this beautiful potato ricer, I would most certainly give my recommendation for it. This is an excellent tool. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic item, I'm really impressed with this ricer. Firstly The stainless steel material is veery thick and durable, it withstood several washings with no problem and the removable pressing inserts are so easy to clean. The size is a bit smaller than I've usually seen in ricers but honestly it helps keep the cleanup more simple as there is less surface area for gunk to get stuck on. Definitely a great value for the price.

For the money this is a good ricer. It's a nice size for small or 2-3 inch diced potatoes. It's easy to use and easy to clean. The attachments are nice and allow you to get the texture you like. The overall design is clean and minimalist. And above all it's compact and easy to store away when not in use. I will admit that it does make some rickety sounds like it's straining when a little over full but other wise is functions well.

I will never make mashed potatoes any other way. They come out so perfectly creamy and smooth just from using this ricer and the consistency and texture is flawless. This has changed how I make mashed potatoes for the rest of my life.

This is highly functional potato ricer. The two different sized attachments give you options as to the thickness of the mash. I've now mashed potatoes, and run some cooked root vegetables through it as well with great easy results. I took a star off because it is quite thin in comparison with another I have. I don't think this affects the function at all, but it is not heavy duty like my other. That being said, the cup capacity is good and this is an overall great value if you need one of these and don't want to pay a high price. It works great!

This is a pretty heavy duty ricer. It comes eith 2 different sizes for your preference! This had made Mashed potatoes so much easier to do and I feel anyone can use the ricer! I do notice though when using it sometimes after pressing the potatoes thin pieces of it stay along the walls and will come out when you lift the handle to add more, but maybe that's me adding to much potatoes at once I am not 100% sure. This is also a bit of a bulky item so keep that in mind when thinking of where to store it. Overall I think it's good quality and a great item but does feel a bit pricey.

This is a really nice heavy duty potato ricer. It works really good and help me make the best mashed potatoes. Very easy to use and to clean. It gets all the potato too and the rice stores A LOT at once.
