Product arrived quickly and was a solid well constructed hitch. However, after all of the preliminary set up... removing the towing hook, splash guards and wheel well protectors, lowering the exhaust, etc... the hitch did not fit. Tried to maneuver it into position several different ways and angle. In the end it was nearly 1/4 inch to narrow. I read that some others used different methods to bend or stretch the hitch, but I was not willing to try hydraulics and hammers to force it. Product returned.

Fits great on the 2012 Kia Soul Exclaim.I've put hitches on before. This one is not too complicated. However, I could not get an OEM bolt to release on the Kia Soul on the right side upper bolt hole on the chassis frame (just behind the right rear wheel). I would need to remove the right rear wheel to get enough leverage/access to do it with the tools I had.Since the Kia needed a tire rotation anyway and it was about to rain, I just took the car to Firestone and had them mount the hitch. They charged one labor hour to mount it, around $90.The hitch itself fits great and looks great on the Soul. It is not obtrusive as it sits back a little behind/underneath the bumper.I use the hitch for an Allen Premier 3 bike rack. Originally I was going the use a Bones 3 rack that straps to the tailgate of the Soul. I had the Bones rack but decided against using it:1) the top straps of the Bones (or similar style rack) appeared that they would rub against the paint above the tailgate window (there is a rounded painted surface there on the Soul - web straps against paint at 70MPH will eventually cause a wear mark on the paint)2) the bumper on the Soul, where the Bones rubber feet sit, has a very shallow flat surface and then it angles down at about 45 degree drop off). That did not appear to give the feet much space to properly sit on the bumper). So if you have a Soul and are looking to transport bikes, I would get this hitch and the Allen Premier bike rack (about $250 for the hitch and the rack on Amazon).

Package was received in a timely manner. It was undamaged and packaged well. However, the ballmount was not included. I did go ahead with the installation and found the fit to the frame extremely tight. I had to use a floor jack and the weight of the vehicle to "press" it on. Some pretty firm hammer blows were required then to get the bolt holes lined up. I don't doubt the security of the installation now, but I do believe it was a little more difficult than it needed to be. I haven't tried it out yet though, because of the missing ball mount.

The hitch arrived without a mark on it, very good packaging. The instructions were good, and easy to follow. The only problem I had was the distance between the end plates was too tight for a slip fit. They were too close on the open end of the assembly, this means the crossbar area was a little wider than the open end. If I did not have a collection of tools I would have struggled a lot more to get it on the car frame. What I did was lightly bolt up the passenger side and placed a small hydraulic jack under the end bracket of the driver side, raised it enough to have some body weight on it and smacked it enough with a large rubber mallet to get it started on. Then beat it the rest of the way on with the mallet. If was to do another, I would measure the gap before I started and correct it. Standing it on end and using a small jack and a board to spread the opening a little would be the easiest way. If the opening is right, anyone with a little tool skill can do this in less than an hour. I did not lift the car, was able to do all at ground level reaching under and I'm a big guy. Wherever Curt manufactures this they need a gauge to check this dimension when COLD AFTERWELDING AND PAINTING.

This hitch arrived very quickly, although I bet the mailman hates me as the box was huge! The installation instructions were fairly straightforward; especially once you get enter the back of the car and take a look. The most difficult part was removal of the factory tow loop, they must have used the biggest guy in the place to torque those bolts down. After that it was mostly simple although a second person would be useful to put the hitch into place, I used my floor jack to hold one end up while I got a bolt started on the other end.Make sure to leave all your bolts loose until you have them all started. There is a slight bit of adjustment that can be made until all the bolts are in, after that the fit is quite tight so torquing bolts before you have all of them started can result in a bolt not being able to thread in.You do need to drop the muffler. I found that I needed to release the mounts both at the front and the rear of the muffler to get enough clearance. That wasn't bad with the help of a pry bar and some lubricant. Reinstalling the mounts was even easier than the removal. If you're installing a trailer light wiring kit at the same time it might be a good idea to run those wires before you install the hitch. I found that after the hitch was installed that access to where the wires come down from inside the bumper cover was restricted, if I had smaller arms it may have been easier.I installed this on a 2012 Kia Soul. I didn't have any trouble with the length of the trailer fitting within the width of the mounting points on the car as has been mentioned in these ratings. However if trying to install yourself it may seem that there is an issue as you really need to the hitch to go straight up onto the mounting points instead of getting one side up there and then moving to the other side.Lastly, the quality of this hitch is very nice. I have installed hitches from other manufacturers and the Curt just really puts them to shame. The square tubing has nicely rounded corners and the powdercoat is very shiny. I know I won't see any of that without getting under the car as all that actually shows is the receiver but it's a testament to Curt that they sweat the stuff that you don't see.
