Works well for my use. I use it on my Park Tool mechanics stand to hold my bike level. I have not used this on a bike rack. The ends are loose fitting so I could imagine the bike would move a bit during transport. There is no locking mechanism on the telescoping slider. This might make the bar more stable.

This was my fourth time using this CURT bike bar for my car rack and it just snapped and the bike started coming out of the rack on one side, upon inspecting the bar, the pressure just snapped the security sliding clip. I was going under the speed limit and bike was perfectly attached to car rack. I will be looking for a refund as i will not be buying this product again. Just thinking of what could have happened if bike would have fallen onto the freeway is just too much. for me and incoming cars. I hope company contacts me ASAP.

This cross bar is our go-to for kids bikes now because it has a thinner x-bar than competitors. That is not a downside - it's plenty strong and leaves more space for fitting a small bike over the forks of a Yakima swing rack.

I have international students that stay with me all summer long. They are girls and they ride their bike to work every day in good weather. How ever I pick them up at night and trying to put a woman bike on the bike rack is awkward and a pain! This bar works great for transporting woman bikes on a bike rack and I would be lost with out it. Love it!

It does the job, and allows me to place those odd bikes on our rack. I wish I could tighten it around the bases a little so that it did not slip up and down as you are handling it. Got a finger pinched once while using it.

Sure glad I purchased the one that adjusts as my ladies bike would not fit the non adjustable
