For towing those especially heavy loads and bulky trailers, you need a ball mount that knows how to handle itself when the going gets tough. Our heavy-duty ball mounts are constructed from quality steel and feature a 2" x 2" shank. They are built to complement CURT class 4 trailer hitches and are perfect for towing large boat trailers, RVs, livestock and horse trailers as well as a variety of other farm and industrial-type trailers (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). With a few different drop height options and the ability to flip for optional rise, CURT heavy-duty ball mounts are built to work as hard as you do, from sunup to sundown. This HD ball mount has a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs. and tongue weight rating of 1,000 lbs. It measures 9-3/8" in length, has a 8" drop and can be flipped to provide 6-3/4" of rise. As with most of our ball mount line, CURT class 4 ball mounts are CNC-formed, robotically welded and mechanically descaled to create a flawless product. We finish our heavy-duty ball mounts in a gloss black powder coat to give them superior rust, chip and UV resistance. They also come with 1-1/4" ball hole to accept a trailer ball with a 1-1/4" shank.

It's about as heavy as you can find for a 2" receiver hitch. Works fine. Recently pulled a dump trailer with a few ton of stone in it and this held up.

The trailer hitch seems very sturdy. I bought used and there were a few nicks and scratches, but I will do more damage to it the first time I use it. It was a great way to save $10!I am very happy with the purchase for the price. Curt is by far my favorite brand for towing equipment. Off brands make me nervous when towing thousands of pounds down the road at highway speeds. Definitely worth the few extra $$ to go with a trusted brand!

The ball mount seems well made and very strong. Nice thick powder coating, too.The first mount I received had a hitch pin hole that seemed too large (0.670") for a 5/8" (0.625") pin. This would cause the mount to bounce around and slam forward and rearward quite a bit, which will definitely cause the hole and the pin to wear more quickly than usual. Obviously I haven't seen the drawing, so I'm not sure what the acceptable tolerance is for this part.I contacted Curt tech support and they got right back to me (which is great!). They sent me another ball mount (also great!), but the hole on the replacement mount is larger than the original with a diameter of 0.681".The hole in the receiver is only slightly larger than the pin at 0.632", which seems perfect. Large enough for the pin to be inserted easily but not so large as to cause premature wear.Some people say that it will help when they get corroded, but with proper maintenance, that shouldn't happen. :)I guess I'll just have to make a bushing to put on the pin to make a tighter fit. Better fit = less wear and less noise.Overall, their products seem well made and their customer service is quick to respond. If the fit were better I've give 5 stars.

This is just what I needed so that my car trailer sits level while towing behind my truck. I could not find one at the store like it. And it is a good brand and has a high tow rating. I prefer this over the aluminum adjustable ones I see a lot of people run. Those just don't seem as durable, plus aluminum doesn't have a fatigue limit, so it will eventually fail.
