I have had this 2 days less than 2 months, and using it today and the weld on the shaft to the rest gave out.

The YEIXCIKA Curved Lathe Tool Rest with 5/8 Inch Post works fine for me. I am an occasional wood turner. The 5/8-inch post fits my lathe fine. The curves of the tool rest are appropriate for what I do.I do have some issues with it. The tool rest is NOT Stainless Steel. It also does not need to be Stainless. I am fine with chrome plated carbon steel. The welds look like they were done by a rookie. I did some clean-up to smooth them out. They secure the parts together. They were just rough as my hands moved over them. The gloves... I cannot imagine any lathe operator wearing gloves. If the glove is caught by the spinning lathe or wood, the hand will be pulled into the machine and the results would be terrible. The tool works, but you will have to use common sense and not wear the gloves around a lathe.

Its better than the straight 6" rest inside the bowl but if you get too far away from the post there's A lot of vibration. I don't hate it, just hate I pang $35 for it.

Fits my midi perfectly and is a welcomed addition to my kit of lathe accessories. It certainly appears to be very well made and whether it stainless or not, who cares? At first I could not understand why it was double ended because you'll only ever use one or the other. But they are not exactly the same, one side has a bit more bend than the other, which may be useful, but they are very close. This is a great tool rest for bowl turning and I have no concerns or criticism about it whatsoever. You won't either

Broke right at the weld…completely useless now. It worked ok for about 10 minutes, then it snapped. There was not a lot of pressure placed on the tool rest…it’s just cheap!

I've seen reviews stating that the tool post is short. I reviewed the 5/8" post on a Fisch Midi lathe. It's a 10" diameter lathe, and I noticed that while this tool post seemed shorter than it -could- have been, it's actually a quarter-inch longer than the straight tool rest that I've been using for years without any trouble. So I'll say that it didn't matter. It seemed rigid in use. I started with an 7" diameter rough circle and I took some fairly heavy cuts. The curved rest didn't flex, was rigid and -also- it was hard enough that the edges of my HSS tools - even cornered-tools like the edges of the shank of my skew did not dig in under load. I think this will work well. Attached are some pictures of a shallow saucer that I turned.
