Prelude bass strings are multi-stranded steel core strings that produce a warm tone quality with good bow response. The special core design and reduced tension makes for strings that are very easy to play, especially for developing players. Prelude bass strings maintain a clear, warm sound that blends well across the ensemble. The 1/2 scale strings are gauged specifically for 1/2 size bass with a playing length of 38 3/8 inches (975mm).

Maybe I did the wrong research on these before purchasing, but they are terrible for bowing. They might sound ok for plucking, but still too bright if you're looking for that "double-bass sound".

Le produit est à la base de bonne qualité mais il ne correspond pas à ce que je cherchais.Ne convient pas pour une contrebasse électrique de marc Stagg = les cordes sont trop courtes d'environ 10 cm et elles sont trop finesIl faut des vraies cordes de contrebasse 3/4 et en forte tension.

Owning an NS Designs NXT5, I tried replacing the strings with full sized upright bass strings with a rope core, ended up spending $200 for the EADG and another $100 for the low B, and ended up not being able to use the low B string (it broke the tuning machine twice and I had to get it replaced). These fit the bass perfectly, they feel more like long scale flatwound electric bass strings and have kind of a tinny tone if you don't bury the tone knob. You don't notice much of a tension difference between these and real upright strings. They arco pretty well but the rosin can cake on to the strings and cause problems when you pizz. All in all a perfect fit for the bass.
