Did not work to connect to my APC SUA1500RM2U. A standard serial cable causes this rack-mount UPS to reset. This cable, interposed between a known-good serial connection and the UPS unit, did not reset my UPS, so it must be wired differently. But, I could not communicate with the UPS via a terminal emulator (Putty).

Would not recommend this cable for Smart UPS VS650. Buy a male-female breakout kit for APC uninterruptible power supplies instead, since there's no really set pinout for these things.

I had two APC AP9617 cards that had an IP address set which I did not know. I tried to make my own cable from spares I had laying around and nothing I tried worked. As soon as I connected this cable I was able to use Putty and reset the cards to DHCP. The UPS is a Smart-UPS 750. Should have just bought this from the start.
