What a great way to learn about guitar assembly and mechanics and in turn end up with a fine playable instrument. I customized my kit a bit with a different neck and a natural stain finish. The set up can be a bit tricky but there are plenty of step by step youtube videos to walk you thru it. I have also bought the Tele version and it's just as good as this strat version.

I am a musician (not a guitarist) with an interest in instrument making, so this appealed to me as a way to play around with electric guitar making, and an excuse to learn to play guitar.I could nitpick a couple of fit and finish issues, but really, nothing to complain about. The instructions say you don't need to even sand the guitar, but I did the whole grain filler and sand thing anyway. I dyed the wood, then did a bunch of layers of diy wipe-on poly (i.e. poly thinned with mineral spirits).Assembly was pretty straightforward, though I will complain here that the instructions were not very good. There was one instruction book that covered several guitar types, and there were several steps for my guitar that were simply left out.As for the final result, I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't put it in front of a real guitarist to get an opinion on, but I think it plays pretty well.

When I ordered this guitar kit, it was my intention to do solid color paint job on it, but when I saw just how beautiful the wood grain is on the body; change of plans. Definitely going to do a light color stain and lacquer. The cut outs for the pickups are nicely done, only needing a light sanding for smoothness. I like that the headstock is oversized so it can be reshaped to fit any personal shape you'd like. The neck is good, the freeboard a little dry, but that's to be expected. The single coil pickups sound just like a srat, as it should be. I'm pleased with this guitar kit.

This is a nice kit given to me by my wife, with everything you need. The body is already routed and drilled. All that's needed is to paint or stain then assemble. I painted the body purple and the neck black and purple. Then about 10 coats of clear coat, wet sanded and buffed. It turned out very nice. I had to level the frets and polish them and rhey turned are nicely. I replaced the pick guard with fender tex mex loaded pick guard. The tuning machines were swapped out with graph ratio tuning machines and I have a fender tremolo bridge on the way. Next I will add strings and do a setup. It's been a lot of fun working on this kit.
