The smell may comes from the cotton and flame retardants treatments after a couple of days packed in the plastic bag and carton box, it is normal to all the brand new items. Just leave the mattress near the opened window for airing, the smell will be gone away soon.
These mattresses are rated as the oversize shipping boxes, the shipping rate is very high if shipped in the original size. We mostly compress the mattresses into the smaller shipping boxes to go down the shipping rate and save the cost for buyers. Right after you open the package, the mattress is supposed to be corrugated at the beginning to cause the width and length shorter. Please stretch the mattress out fully by pulling both ends of the mattress, and after using a few times the mattress will gain back their original shape.

Pretty and comfortable when you first lay down but after a while I think it compresses and feels more like you are laying on the floor.

I was looking for a little sleeping pad for sleepovers, etc. Great color, size, nice that it rolls with ties, and is made of natural materials like cotton. The problem is that it isn't comfortable for me. I thought it had to do with my curves, but my slender 10 year old son didn't like it either. Not enough cushion for me, I guess. I returned it. Maybe it would be good for someone who wants to do yoga on it, where you need something a little more firm.

These floor futons are firm but very comfortable. My guests love these futons and wanted to take them home with them. They roll into reasonably compact size for storage. Removing the original futon covers for cleaning & reinstalling the covers would be a difficult task, so simple slip covers were made to cover the futons --- easier to wash, but unfortunately hides the gorgeous purple covers.The stated width of 30" is the width of the cover before padding is added -- actual width of the futon is approx 1-2" narrower. Guests were slender so the width was OK, but the 35" width version would have been the better choice. Highly recommended.

This is better than the floor where I would wake up occasionally (I also have a bed, but sometimes like sleeping in places that the bed can't fit). As one reviewer stated, it does kind of feel like a thick kitchen seat cushion. Another product I was look at was the teton cot pad that is a bit cheaper, and is made of foam. But I tested foam bedding products at my local Target store and didn't like the feel, which is why I got this. You can get these cheaper off of ebay too, and don't mind the smaller color selection there (on hind sight, I think I would have been happy with white or beige colors, and perhaps should have gotten it on ebay to save a little money). It's not as soft as a bed topper, or even most beds. But it is a lot softer than the floor. The dimensions are closer to 73 inches long by 27 inches wide. Wish it was one inch wider, but otherwise satisfied with the dimensions (for me that is). I like the way it looks. Since the cover is probably hard to wash, I've put this thing between bedsheets and a sleeping bag, to both provide protection and also a extra padding.

Way small great so a back up sleeping thing. Not for massage work... Also horrible to return stuff to this this company.

I recently bought this for my son (5) and daughter (8) to have sleep overs. I aired it out for 2 days as soon as it arrived as I read the reviews about the bad smell. I didn't experience the smell at all, so relieved! It is bulky though and will have to be housed in the basement instead of a closet as I'd hoped. Good deal. And comfy.

beautiful purple color, very cozy, great for camping, great for guests to sleep on the floor. A little narrow (not great for an obese person I presume) but definitely good enough for me. Smells great (what are people talking about in the reviews with it having a chemical smell right when they get it?)

After shopping all the other options on Amazon.com I felt that this was the best product for my purposes (guest bedding). My ONLY complaint is that it is not 30" wide as advertised. This was a factor for my choosing this particular futon. There were others that were 27" wide but this one was advertised as 30" wide. It is NOT 30" wide! It is about 27" wide. I thought it might flatten out once it was slept on but it is definitely not 30" wide! Otherwise it is a wonderful product and comfortable to sleep on (says my sister). I like it much better than the blow-up bed I was using before it sprung a leak. It is more comfortable and easier to use and store. I should say that it seems wide enough for comfortable sleeping however it should be advertised for what it is.
