We got this for some repairs after the hurricane when some of our boards warped a bit. We didn't have crazy warps and we could have straightened with some muscle and a friend or two, but this made things a bit easier on us. I can see where people would say it's not going to work on bigger issues and it's thin metal. It's for sure an aid to get boards in the right spot and not a fix for big warps or twists.

Would not hold a grip on the joist? Good quality materials but would slip

I never put this together or used it, so I can't say how it would hold up. I only looked at it and saw thin metal poorly spot welded. So I figured not take a chance and just spend a little more for something that could last many uses.

This tool enables you to straighten warped boards when installing decking. You lock it between 2 boards and pull them together. I used to do this by attaching a block to the top of the joist and using a prybar in between to insure the boards met. With this tool there is no more blocking needed and it is so much easier to use. You can use this with one hand while on the deck and pull the board in. This will free up the other hand to use your air nail gun. It is safer and much less effort. Because of this you will save hours of time working with decking boards that don't meet. It is built well and has plastic butt ends to protect any rough edges so that you don't get cut on the metal or damage your deck by accident. It is powder coated black and it's pretty light which makes it easy to use. I highly advise this to the d.i.y. guy/girl who wants pro results or the pro that is making the most of his time.
