I would absolutely advise against this product for kids. By all appearances it is a cute journal and the locking function was especially appealing to my 8 year old. However, the song which plays once the journal is unlocked is wildly inappropriate for kids. I was shocked. The lyrics suggest intimate physical acts between a boy and a girl—which my 8 year old absolutely doesn’t need to hear. We will not be keeping this product.If you can get past the song, the locking function does work well and is easy to reset to a personal code. However I cannot get past the lyrics of the song the manufacturer chose and would suggest a potential customer find another locking journal for their child.

The song is not child appropriate! The age description is way off! I gave to my 8 year old granddaughter without checking it out first. She had about a week before her mom caught it. Sad and I will be getting refund!
