Server crashed and wiped everything after a year.

This is a great server! Overall really clean, other than a few scratches, you would never know this was a refurbished server. Came as advertised. Great customer service - I had to call because the RAID option shown was not coming up in the setup. The card had shaken loose during shipping and their CS helped pinpoint the problem very quickly. I reseated the card and all is well! Definitely recommend this server and seller!

I'm very happy with the server. The seller upgraded the system from an 8 disk to 10 disk for free, probably because that's what they had the most of. It arrived clean and works well.

I purchased this server and had to returned, because it has only 3 working drives and has a damage on the back. the seller ITStrong charged me for re stocking fees for no good reasons knowing the fact that the server was damaged. so i would recommend not to buy without a real picture and a commitment that the severs is guaranteed to work.

This is an extremely affordable server (mostly the free shipping).Pros>Affordable, well packaged and shipped.I asked for them to throw in iDrac enterprise rather than an express and they did.Very nice people to talk to.Cons>When I received the server the plastic hook that latches the top/lid on was broken. Certainly not a deal-breaker or enough of a problem to use the warranty but it was strange it passed inspection. I know it didn't break during shipping because I couldn't find the shard of the missing plastic.Hard Drive Errors. I ordered this about 8 months ago and the hard drives are already giving me a ton of smart errors. I didn't expect much from a server this cheap but I'm still surprised. I expected everything to be pulls, especially the hard drives, but they're cutting it close. I'm a Comp Sci student using this for a lab; I don't need reliable data storage, but if I were a small business or data science student I'd be extremely angry. (expect to have to buy new hard drives) I'm a student who can't blow money on a new set of SAS drives so I've stepped down to RAID 1. If you don't plan on buying new hard drives I'd just start off with RAID 1 so you don't have to migrate data later. I would definitely recommend using a journaled file system. The one I got only came with two 600GB hard drives (I'm saying this because the listing changed), if they had added one more hard drive and put it in a RAID 5 array the server would be significantly more valuable to me. I feel a bit cheated because I'd expected a fast 1.2 TB setup and ended up with a slower .6 TB setup. The password. They've preinstalled windows server on there but don't give you the password (it's not OEM I guess). It would be nice if they put a sticker on their or something with the password.Lastly, I was getting some strange thermal errors. I left it on idle for a couple of months when the pandemic hit and came back to a bunch of thermal errors saying the external temp was too high. It was on idle the entire time and was the only server in the entire data center complaining. I'm hoping this was a one-time incident but time will tell.Summary>For my use case (a lab) its an extremely good option. Its cheap, affordable, and gets the job done. However, if I were a small business I'd want to be made aware that while everything is "inspected" it's still old. Buying cheap comes with its tradeoffs. A new set of SAS drives will cost me more than what I bought the server for. That being said it's still a great choice for small business with the caveat that you'll need to invest in it. I wouldn't use this unmodified for any application where data integrity is important.

After reading many reviews and specs we decided to go for this server. Best choice in price/performance. We will install a virtualization software and will run 2 instances of Win Server 2016 as well as 2 instances of Ubuntu Server.

Got this last year(diff spec), specs were same as listed when arrived. They were at factory settings, it came with dual PSU 750W, didn't come with drive blanks on empty slots or power cord which was odd, but I guess thats how they could get the price low. The condition of the server inside was neat no visible damages. The exterior had wear n tear marks which is understood for used servers, but still gr8 compared to others seen in ebay etc...

Received the server, mostly as advertised.First the bad - I was the buyer that asked about adding the bezel in the q & a above - I could not figure out how to message the seller however I did find a customer service number which is a plus. After talking to a rep I referenced my order and was told a bezel will be included.Upon receiving the order, there was no bezel and only one power supply instead of the advertised two. Additionally the handle on the power supply was broken off, and the metal cage bent, a result of the custom foam packaging being off-centered toward the rear, such that the power supply handle if attached straight would have been pushing the box out. It most likely went in attached and being a high point, was broken in transit. Upon calling serversuperstore, they referenced my order and were able to ship out a second PSU and the bezel that night. They even offered to replace the psu with the broken handle - a rarity of customer service anymore. Now the good -Everything works. Any signs of wear externally were minimal, and better than expected given this is a refurbished machine. After testing every component works down to the individual fans. All unused drive slots have a blank, and the machine arrived very clean internally and externally with a 180 day evaluation version of Windows server 2016 installed that I expect was loaded for testing. Additionally I put the CPUs under full load for 20 minutes and everything performed as it should. The r620 is an impressively quiet machine in the server world, and under light to moderate loads I wouldn't mind it in my office. Nearing full load it is louder, but still quiet given what it is - a 1u dual processor server. If you are a hobbyist or home user, take relief that you won't have the sound of a dozen harpies screaming in unison echoing through your home unless you are really pushing this machine to it's limits in a warm environment. For a home media server, it would be about the same noise level as a standard desktop. Though I received only one 495 watt psu that had a hard go of it in transit, another person who I linked this same listing to bought two, and received both with dual 750 watt psus. Luck of the draw I suppose, as the listing only advertises the redundant 495 watt units. Your mileage may vary.Overall this is a great deal on what once was a 12,000 dollar machine. Granted it is seven years old now, however for a small business or home dedicated server needs you would be hard pressed to find a better system for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to order again if I had the need.
