I have used my SkyFi (one) since 2003 and it's still working fine. Dunked it's Remote in coffee and although it's working, Remote is now eating CR2032 Battery Coin Cells. So glad to find this replacement and wish now that I had bought it ten years ago, after experiencing all the improvements over my original model. Remote on this model uses standard AAA batteries and despite their being included, you will need to get (2) new ones (way beyond their 'shelf-life' now). Your old (original) Car Kit's or Home Kit will work just fine with this unit. This is still the finest XM Radio Receiver available and I could care less about the Sirius Channels (which are not compatible with this Radio). The Pause/Rewind/Play (up to thirty minutes) feature is great and used a lot more than I expected. Artist (or Tune) alert 'beep' is neat and gives you the closest possible 'Profile' operation to Pandora's possible. This one still had the 'full-power' (FCC part-15 compliant) FM Transmitter and although I use the Direct connections into my auto's "Aux" and RCA connection's into Home Sound System, I really enjoy feeding (simultaneously) all the FM Stereo Radios in any room in my home. If I am out in the yard FM 101.1 blocks out my 88.1, so I would need to select another FM Channel. This one came with ferrite chokes that you were supposed to install to stop interfering with Jerry Falwell or Jim Baker playing in the car next to you.The very last ones built were altered to require a 'ring' to be placed over a car's FM antenna to work, these can be identified by their red (trimmed) boxes.

Works well. Easy to get a signal. Solid performance. I use these in a business application, one has been in service for 2 years and has never been a problem. I have just bought this one, and will be buying another one soon. I haven't been able to find one that comes with the home kit instead of the car kit, so I always have to buy the home kit and store the car kit. This unit, a home kit, and a set of wireless speakers is a good solution for using xm for business.

The unit I received was defective from day 1. The only button on the receiver that worked was the on/off button. I called Delphi and they told me to return it to the retailer. That makes me mad, since I bought it on Amazon I have to pay shipping to/from the retailer for a unit that is defective.I wonder why they don't test units before they ship them.I noticed a few other Amazon reviewers had similar experiences, their units never worked. Unfortunately, their reviews were buried beneath a number of glowing reviews, so I never saw them when I was making my purchase decision.

I really like my skyfi2. The pause feature is great. This unit is easy to use. It does not give you the option of changing the screen color, which makes a difference when you do allot of night driving. The car kit comes with many mounting options to fit almost any application (temporary or permanent). I do not really like the scroll wheel. In DIRECT TUNE mode you must turn the wheel one click to make it WAKE UP. The second click will cause it to change the channel. This is really annoying when you want to go through the channels one at a time to discover new channels that you might like. However the remote control has UP/DOWN buttons that allow channel by channel navigation to be simple just like a tv remote.

Ok, the SkyFi2 is getting old, but it still works just fine. The display shows it's age with large pixel text, it's a bit bulky, it's thicker than it might appear in the photos, but if portability isn't a big issue for you, then this is a really cheap way to get XM for yourself. The sound is just fine, the features are actually very nice, the newer units don't have that much on the old SF2, especially if you set up in one place and leave it. I purchased this for a friend, along with a home kit, and the signal repeater, all together, for less than most of the recivers alone.

I've had a SkyFi receiver in my home for over two years now, and am addicted to Satellite Radio -- it's all I listen to now. When we leased a Lexus RX 330 that did not have Satellite radio pre-installed, we purchased this receiver and car kit for it. Initially, I was concerned about trying to install the antenna on the roof of the car (the instructions that come with the kit are necessarily vague concerning how to install the antenna on the car roof, because each car is different). I did not know if I could do it myself, or if I would have to pay a professional to install it. Well, I decided to try putting the antenna inside the car, on the dashboard, rather than trying the more complicated roof-top installation, to see if it worked. I placed the antenna on the dash as far forward as possible, and stuck it in place with a little museum wax. I hid the antenna wire easily in the seam between the dash and the side of the car, and then strung the wire below the driver's side floor mat. It works great! Every now and then, the signal drops off when you make a turn or go under a bridge, but it's only momentary and no different than the drop off I got on regular radio. Indeed, it does not seem to happen any more frequently than in my other car, that had XM pre-installed with a roof antenna. The receiver plays through the tape deck in the car, and the reception is strong and crystal clear digital. (One of the other reviewers complains of poor reception when played over the FM radio -- that is only necessary if you don't have a tape deck, and I haven't tried the FM broadcast signal myself.) All in all, we're very pleased by this receiver and car kit, and wouldn't know what we'd do without it.
