Got the dark blue; slight wiskering but not overly distressed. I’m 5’1” 120lbs skinny thighs, and short waisted (the waist sits just slightly above the belly button). Had to have the width of the legs taken it, now they’re perfect! Seamstress said an easy fix; and you can’t tell they didn’t come that way. (Some shorts look odd when taken in, the proportions on these make them look like a tailored fit). Made extremely well, nice length. I preferred to wear them uncuffed which puts them about 2” above my knees - find more flattering at age 62. Typical Democracy (Wit & Wisdom) waistband and designed fit belt loops. Nice stretch, prevents from rising into the crotch while sitting for length of time. Very comfortable for all activities. Could wear sneakers, sandals or even dress up with a wedge.Overall, I love these. I’m going to order in another color, probably the forest green.

Absolutely love these shorts! I am thrilled to have found a quality product in petite! They fit perfectly and the denim is super soft. The band inside the waist makes the shorts very comfortable to wear. I am a fan of Democracy now!

I love the comfortable fit of these shorts especially on the waist. This is my 4th pair (first white pair). The white are a bit tighter in the waist than the others. The other colors I can take off without unbuttoning. But I can’t do that with these. However, they are not small enough to get a size larger. Hope that helps!

eI thought I'd love these, and they're okay, but not what I was expecting. I am usually around a size 12, but not petite. For shorts, I didn't think the length would matter at all (and it doesn't). I followed the sizing chart since these were petite sizes, and trusted it, so I sized up to the 14P because of my measurements. They are just a little big, but given the stretch meant to "hold you in", because they are a little loose, I don't think they do this. If they were smaller, I feel they'd be much more flattering. On me, they look boxy. My boyfriend did complement the way the back looks, so I've got that going for me. My second issue is the color. They look kind of like a light olive or maybe sage green in the pictures, but in reality are a drab brown - reminds me of the color of pants my dad used to wear as a janitor. So the combo of fit and color makes me feel pretty frumpy overall. Plenty of room for my thick thighs, and sturdy material are pluses.

First, I was nervous ordering my first pair of shorts on line. My sizes range from 8, 7/9, and 10 in pants. I read the reviews and took the advice to heart. Originally I was going to order a 10. I decided to go with 8 after the reviews. The 8 fits perfectly and not tight. The length is what I was looking for and NOT high waist. These sit right below my belly button. Again, not tight and extremely comfortable. If you're on the fence about these, don't. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I need to thank Democracy for having a Jean that actually fits any size woman. I own 3 pairs of regular jeans and 2 pairs of these shorts. It seems that most companies now make jeans that have to follow a trend of super high waisted jeans. Basically, these jeans are glorified “mom” jeans that only look good on women who are slender, 5’10” tall and are long waisted and weigh 100 lbs. . I am 5’1” @105 lbs and 64y.o. I bought 2 pairs of these shorts and the size 2 petite are perfect. The stretch is just enough and super comfortable. I highly recommend these shorts. My only grievance is that the olive green colored is $30 more in price. Why?? I will continue to purchase Democracy jeans .

I love the Democracy brand, and was excited to get a good pair of shorts. These fit around the butt and waist fine, but when i rolled up the cuffs (as shown in the photo for that style) they got more than a little snug around my thighs. I do know they stretch with time and wear, so it's not like I won't get used to them, but considering I ordered the same size I always have, it's a little frustrating. Still, good condition, good color and if they're like my other items, they'll last a good while.

Hands down the best shorts I own. They are the perfect colour, length and size. I bought sz 16, I'm 210 and 5ft. 4.5in tall. They have stretch in all the right places and a nice thick waist band. Highly recommend!
