Very cool, super precise. Its obviously bulkier than most scales but ends up being easier to use and I feel better about the results being accurate.

I buys and sell jewelry if I find a local deal. It is a hobby for fun. I found this scale to be a great assistant in that realm. Compared to the pocket size scale and shipping style scale I’ve used, this scale offers far more precision, particularly when measuring small items like gemstones and/or precious metals. The 0.1mg accuracy is impressive, and the three-sided glass windshield helps eliminate environmental factors like air currents and minor vibrations. The scale is easy to use with its dual front and rear LCD displays, which are backlit for clear visibility in low-light environments. I also appreciate its ability to switch between multiple units, such as grams, carats, ounces, and milligrams, which is essential for my jewelry business. Additionally, the RS-232 interface allows for data processing and connection to printers or computers, which adds versatility for more advanced needs.I’ve seen similar scales in professional jewelry stores, so it’s great to have one at a fraction of the professional price. It’s well built, compact, and can be powered by either a plug in or batteries, making it on the go friendly which is what I do most of the time. So far works great and no issues. Not heavy.

This analytical balance has very good construction. There is a nice glass windshield around the pan. The doors on the two sides and on the top open easily and provide good access to the pan to add and remove samples. The two displays on the front and back are useful, especially if you are working on a video presentation and want a camera on one display while you are working with the other. The displays have bright backlights. The displays show weights to 1mg precision and display up to 500g. The Amazon description says that it has 0.1mg/500g accuracy, but it is limited to 1mg/500g by the display. It has a small spirit level and easily adjustable feet to properly level the balance for accurate measurements. It has a simple calibration procedure and it included a 500g calibration weight. I measured several of my standard weights and it was within a few mg for all of them. It is supposed to operate on four AA batteries or with an AC adapter. Unfortunately, the AC adapter that came with the balance was dead, so I was limited to battery power. There is an RS-232 serial interface for data logging. The balance that I received also has a USB-A interface. Since I do not have the logging software, I did not test them. Along with the inoperable AC adapter, my other criticism is the user manual. It is very brief. The “FUNC” button has many selections that are not described in the manual. It also refers to a “UNIT” button, which I believe is the “FUNC” button.
