Use this on container plants to measure for when to add fertilizer. Simply calibrate the probe, and away you go. Calibration holds for a very long time. Provides results in EC, but that is easy to convert to ppm if needed.

This is quite a professional EC soil meter. Unlike a few other meters, this one is intended for measuring the conductivity of the soil directly as opposed to the soil dissolved in water. The probe is decently thick and long, allowing for a good, deep poke to get a proper reading at root depth.It takes two AA batteries which are included. It has a temperature meter used internally for temperature compensation when calculating the readings sensor readings. There's a calibration button which is a good sign for any tool with an electronic sensor. (The calibration is actually quite complicated and not well described in the specification booklet, but it's good to have it in case I need to calibrate for better accuracy/precision.)Although the electrode claims to be corrosion-resistant, I would recommend cleaning with distilled water after every use to avoid contamination from previous readings.
