The inner box was tore up and the parts were missing and the ones I received looked to be used pieces

I can't speak to how this will work but I just received this unit and it did not include the timing shunt and the coil wires were red and white and not purple and gray. It didn't include any of the hardware shown in the photo so I may have to fabricate a bracket for the coil since it's not the typical round Mercruiser coil. The instructions are weak and the included diagram is way too diagrammatic and is confusing. The color of the wires matters because now I have to assume which one is the power wire (purple in instructions) and which one is the tach wire (gray in instructions). Mine are red and white. They did sent another harness that plugs into the distributor but no clue where it goes. It's a four pin connector and doesn't match anything in the instructions or diagram. It was probably meant for another application. This makes me wonder if the coil and distributor I have will work. I'll update this post once I do the install.
