My cat is not technically “long hair”, but she has a Metric ton of “pretty long” hair and I can practically fill a bucket when I groom her with a shedding comb, even though she’s groomed several times a week. Figured I’d give this a shot, since she has so much excess undercoat, but I shouldn’t have.It’s advertised for dogs and long haired cats for a reason. Even though some cats seem to have “long hair”, it’s not the same. The teeth can’t grab into anything, they just press her fur down and snag a few loose hairs near her tail area, just like any traditional plastic cat brush does.Not going to fault the product much since I knew I was just curious and really knew better, although I will say I was expecting a little more from the “blades” described, that were underwhelming on initial inspection. I knew it wasn’t going to grab onto her undercoat before I started brushing. Both sides basically just press her hair down like I’m petting her.Probably fantastic for truly long haired cat breeds.

My super floofy cat often ends up with mats now and then, no matter how much I brush and groom her. I have worked out mats by hand in the past, but it takes a long time and isn't always comfortable for the cat.This tool works wonderfully and with just a few passes, a mat she's had for over a month was eliminated.Comfortable to hold, feels sturdy, love it!

This dematting pet comb is exactly as described. The handle is comfortable and has texture that makes it easier to grip. The stainless steel hooks on each side helps to remove a dog or cat’s undercoat. Please see my photos.

This tool does an alright job, just not overly impressed. The prong things are too far apart to grab everything and do not do as good a job as others I have used. It takes time to get all the fur off, I used this with a normal comb to get the results I wanted. Ones with the inner layered shorter combs work better.

I picked up this Patepoby Cat Comb for Shedding because it was smaller than the one I already owned (**) and I wanted to see if my cat liked/was more tolerant of it. As far as the cat liking it more, she actually does, but that is because this cat comb doesn't really do much. I have used both shedding combs on her and this one just does not grab into her undercoat the way my original comb does and because of that is it useless with dealing with mats. This comb is single sided while my original is double sided, and the space between the teeth is different, but logically this comb should work much better than it actually does. I don't understand why it doesn't work, but if I were you I would save your money and go with another deshedding tool. ** the Pat Your Pet Deshedding Brush.

We use this on our poodle when he gets into weeds and sticky seeds. The sharp blades cut through mats fairly easily. No way to sharpen though, so won't last forever.

I have a ragdoll cat so having something that can work through his long hair is greatly appreciated. The teeth are gentle on him and his hair but still work up a fair bit of hair, especially from his tail and neck. I can only imagine how effective it would be on an even fluffier animal. It's genuinely a must-have for anyone with long haired pets.
